Yes you can give neg back to the buyer who you believed messed you around. You can only give positive feedback of course as the seller but you can write what you like ( within reason) and in capitals too. Positive feedback does not have to be positive as it can be negative if you get my drift. As a seller more than a buyer I would certainly appreciate being warned about nitpicking buyers who neg even when the seller has helped them! Go ahead and get it out of your system, dont get mad get even!
Hi OP I know soolin and others are right about it being against ebays guidelines not to leave a negative comment as positive feedback for buyers.
But lets just play devils advocate and say soolin is wrong and that I am clueless as well.
Then I ask you to look at it this way positive feedback is just that positive and after a few more positive comments are left for the buyer and the comment is off of their first page of feedback comments no one will look at all the comments they have recieved so after a while it is just another positive rating for the buyer.
Do you really want to give the buyer another positive on their rating?
I would just point out the fact that you gave a full refund including postage to the buyer as a follow up comment for the negative you recieved and not leave the buyer any feedback at all.
I as a seller always look when running an auction listing at what feedback a buyer has left for sellers as this gives a better pictute of the buyer than feedback recieved.

I agree - I do this as well.....;)

I also do this when I receive a best offer as if I feel they are likely to be a PITA then they can pay me more for the benefit....LOL:rotfl::rotfl:

When I need your advice I will ask for it . Kindly go sell on ebay for more than 12 years and then come back and tell me about the rules and what to do. I absolutely have negged a buyer with positive feedback as described and it was not removed. If you are clever you can say an awful lot in a few words. You can also reply to any feedback left and put your side of the argument. Imagine buying an item from a store and then deciding you dont want it so take it back because of a tiny fault you did not see. The store is very helpful, takes it back and then you go and paste up a slanderous and innacurate complaint in their shop window. Couldnt happen could it? Think again it happens on ebay where some buyers really risk being on the wrong end of litigation with their allegations because ebay has a fixation with buyers rights over those of sellers, most esp non-business or private sellers. You can think what you like but you cannot write what you like unless you are stating absolute facts that no court could argue with. In the case quoted this would be my response all in capitals for emphasis. BUYER RETURNED ITEM -FULL REFUND- THEN NEG FB . WILL NOT SELL TO AGAIN!

I think its about time we had a little more balance on this board and I dont think highlighting words in red is suitable conduct for a moderator - go think about that!
A toys out of the pram moment methinks

Just because the buyer you put your silly FB on didn't know they could get it removed doesn't mean that it is within ebay rules. The courts have nothing to do with it so I'm really unsure what your ranting about there. I do love the 'WILL NOT SELL TO AGAIN' as I really doubt they would come back.

I think you need to make sure your information is correct before you try and give advice. your starting to look rather silly now.

Also for someone who is has been so called selling on ebay for 12 years how did you miss this one last year. The £50 reserve has been in for years.
Have just discovered that if you want to list an item for 99p you CAN put a reserve on it BUT the reserve HAS to be at least £50 so what is the point?

    Oh and this classic
I make it very clear in my listings that I cannot be held responsible for any loss theft or damage in transit caused by third parties eg Royal Mail. To that end I always offer postal options for both Special and Recorded Delivery and point out that if buyers DONT pay for at least Special Delivery they will invalidate their payment protection with Paypal. But given Special costs at least £4.75 very few buyers pay for it and most are happy paying just first class with certificate or proof of posting. So if the item goes missing there is no way I am refunding anything as I have clearly set out my terms of sale. If the buyer wants to pursue the PO I will happily provide evidence to help them as I have acted as a "proxy" for them ie used their money to purchase a service for them. You have to be aware that most sales go through smoothly but human nature being what it is sellers must protect themselves from the occasional rogue who buys something from you on ebay, doesnt pay for special delivery and claims your goods have not arrived so you get a Paypal chargeback. So you have lost
    Your payment
    Your postage fees
    Your ebay fees
    and not least your goods.

Take care to set out your terms and listings very carefully on ebay. I have never had an ebay/ paypal chargeback in more than 10 years. I rest my case...................

He has claimed to be a seller of 12 years and a current one at that. However some of his other posts contradict that. In one he claims he sells infrequently and hasn't sold anything for many months??

It has occured to me that he might be on a 'mission' and is purposely giving duff advice to lead people astray or to insight arguements? I am unsure of his motive though, and his id is a few years old and not newly registered, so perhaps you are right and he is just a bit of a pratt:rotfl:

    School holidays maybe?

I enjoy a healthy debate, and as you say in an earlier post we have occasionally held opposing views and have been able to debate them in a lucid, adult and productive manner, in fact I have rather enjoyed some of the threads we have both posted on.

I rather fear though that arguing with 'others' who may not have the benefit of understanding or ability to debate without resorting to childish comments may be seen as taking advantage of those who may less equipped to handle such debate.

Healthy debates are good...I am always willing to have my views and opinions 'challeged or tested' and am always happy to take other peoples opinions on board. It doesn't mean I have to change mine...but sometimes seeing things 'through other peoples eyes' can be quite enlightening.

I try not to resort to name calling and mud slinging as it tends to show that you have run out of logical arguements...LOL:rotfl:

    What is it they say....

Never argue with an idiot - They drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience:rotfl:
