Is it just me who doesn't want a 'proper' hen night?

I am not bothering with a hen night and neither is OH with a stag night. Instead the day before the wedding we are taking our LO to a wildlife park with the local childrens centre pmsl!
Neither me nor OH 'go out', I go out for a meal with some girls I do volunteering with at Christmas but that is it. I might not even be having any alcohol at our reception, we'll probably open a bottle once LO is in bed though.

A Hen night is not even on my super-excel-hope-I-havn't-missed-anything-sheet! lol! I think something might end up being organised behind my back but really not fussed about it. Friends of friends had a joint hen stag party at a restaurant, they had seperate drinks first, then all met for the meal, something which would be far more us than going out and getting trashed and dancing the night away!I love food, hate waste and have a penchant for sparkly things ::D
Trying to find a work life balance...:rotfl:0 -
I didnt want a 'proper' hen night either though a close friend said that they didnt want me to go and get married abroad without giving me a send off. I was adamant however that I didnt want L plates, rude things, fluffy things, strippers etc & that I would go home if anyone had any of that stuff :rotfl:
As I got married in Italy a group of us went to my favourite Italian restaurant and had a fab meal with lots of attention from the waiters. We had Italian flags, balloons, music and ate and drank till bursting point and then we all piled round my friends house and played Just Dance on the Wii. I thoroughly enjoyed it and am glad that they insisted on doing something for me:smileyheaGot married in beautiful Sorrento 11th May 2010:smileyhea0 -

All I want is a night out at my favourite metal club with a bunch of my good girl friends, dancing the night away and having some drinks. I love to get drunk with the best of them but I don't want to get angry drunk like I have seen some hen nights end upI don't want them to have to spend much money which is why I have offered the two bridesmaids who live far away to stay at my flat for the weekend. It's £5 to get into the club, then drinks. I would feel bad if they had to pay for a limo and stripper and tshirts etc etc.
Am I the only one?
No you're not
You have what you want, if anyone doesn't like it then yahboosucks to 'em!
I'm out on my lovely cousin's 'hen day' tomorrow - we're going to Ladies' Day at the races, which is going to be nice!0 -
i'e just got engaged and already know that i dont want a 'proper' hen do - just maybe go for a nice meal with close friends and family.
i know a few people who've done the whole 'l plates, getting smashed, flirting with men' type hen do's and that is definitely not for me!

Nope, clearly (as we can see by other posts on this thread) not just you! My bridesmaids know me well enough that if there's even a sniff of a stripper or a club, then I'm out of there. And I wouldn't heitate in doing it.
Although I'm leaving it up to them to arrange, I've given them the idea of a multi-activity day. For example, start off with breakfast somewhere, then have a picnic for lunch in a nice park (whre everyone can bring an item to share), then maybe a quick afternoon spa session before dinner (with entertainment - like a live dance show or a medieval banquet thing) in the evening. That way, people that come can dip in and out of things as their pockets allow too.0 -
ive decided for mine (i know i sound a bit controlling!!) that we'll go to a local spa hotel for a whole day of gorgeous pampering in beautiful surroundings! we'll spend the night in the hotel too having a lovely meal and a few drinks with it, then a giggly night together in the hotel rooms!
this way i can bring my mum and maybe mil2b!
i cant bloody wait!!0
