I'm looking forward to my n night & it hasn't even been organised yet (a long way to go yet!).

I trust my friends to organise something suitable for me. :j

Hi Guys My hen night was last month (Getting married next Saturday) and I was so worried about dares and looking silly, but I had the whole lot! Willy straws, L plates, Veil, Garter, I even had fluffy wings!!! But on the actual day I just relaxed and enjoyed it for what it was, My friends had set up a MR & MRS Game which was fun, on the evening I didnt do any dares I didnt want to and we all had such a laugh I really enjoyed being a Hen! Please don't spend time worrying about it like I did just enjoy it and do what you want to do Sally xxx

I second this! As I said a wild night with dares and drunken messiness wasn't really what I had originally planned, but I had a really good time anyway.

  • Not just you - your idea of a good hen night sounds great to me!

Neither of my sisters had particularly rowdy hen nights - OK one of them went to Funny Girls in Blackpool, but then we just went straight back to the hotel rather than staying out drinking in town, and we did do shots and eat greasy pizza at my other sister's hen night but had been to the races and out for dinner before so it was fairly civilised. Neither of them wanted any OTT 'accessories', so we just got them a little fake bouquet with a 'Bride' ribbon on it.

That said my boyfriend's sister's best mate is getting married in November and is having at least two hen parties - a weekend in Brighton for 22 of her mates (yes I know!) and then a week in Spain with her family and a few select friends. I'm all for celebrating with your mates but the big extravagant thing/weekend away thing just isn't for me, although if it suits you then that's fine.

I've always thought I'd like something like a cocktail mixing lesson and then afternoon tea, followed by going to an indie club with my OH and all our friends (but with more emphasis on the dancing like nutters rather than the drinking), and then a separate more civilised dinner with my mum, sisters, aunties, cousins, gran and nanna. And definitely no sashes, veils, L plates or pink cowboy hats.

  • No hen night for me either! Really could think of nothing worse than going to rubbish pubs and clubs with crappy willy straws and l-plates. Chief bridesmaid is not impressed but I just don't see the point, personally I find it all a bit naff. Might do a spa day with my mum, sisters / sister in laws and bridesmaid but that is it. Glad I'm not the only one - thought it was me being a weirdo, lol.

I want to have a girly sleepover for my hen night - the type you had as teenagers - pjs, popcorn, movies, pedicures and face masks and take away pizza with lots of desserts.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

I think everyone here knows my opinion pretty well on this matter. I think its important that the bride gets to do something they enjoy, weather that be L plates and inflatable things or just a day at a spa. Not everyone is going to enjoy doing the same thing.

The big thing that gets me is people who insist on organising expensive weekends and then moan at you or fall out with you when you say you cant afford to go.

I will come and do some moshing with you! Cant do the rock smily but if I could it would go here!
Debt free since July 2013! Woo hoo! The bank actually laughed when I said I have come in to cancel my overdraft.

I think i'm doing a weekend at Alton Towers. Again, i don't fancy a drunken night around town in uncomfortable shoes! My H2B doesn't like theme parks so i'm making the most of it without him!! Alton Towers welcome hen groups and you stay in the Alton Towers hotel... might work out a bit pricey with travel, but don't mind whoever decides not to come. But they have plenty of time to save.
Don't let your fears stand in the way of your dreams. :A

Agreed a "proper" hen night can mean different things to different people, not just the stereotypical willies, L plates & cheesy club.

To OP just to let you know I am exactly the same - it is like everyone saying they don't like going out on new year's eve, where are all these people who actually ENJOY that kind of thing??? I am very adamant it is not happening, my BMs are quite young (so am I really but the difference between early and late 20s) and I am arranging my own. Spa during the day and a meal in a nice place at night - so younger people can come too. Possibly a musical or if Take That tour in time :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D If we do have a night out on the tiles it will be at the most OTT gay club I can find!
