When you leave Sky...?

Thinking of leaving Sky as having it and BT Vision is too much.
When I leave...
1) What happens to the dish
2) what happens to the Sky+ box?
Also I'm obviously going to miss the sport although I know there's a limited availability on BT vision. I can put up with that but the kids would really miss the Disney Channels.....is there any other way of getting these?
And, assuming the Sky dish stays where it is, does that mean I would be able to use Freesat with it?

Thanks for sharing that with me Rapido.
although it was of absolutely no use to me I hope it served in some way to get off your chest whatever it is you have on your chest
I'm guessing that you're not too happy with the way others on the forum treat you.... knowing you only from your reply I think I'd be making a shrewd guess in judging that those others probably have a lot of justification on their side.
Please....if you can't assist, for whatever reason, don't bother letting me know, just don't post!

Hi, they won't do anything with the dish or box. They'll be left for you to either leave they are or remove. Up to you.
... and yes, you can plug a freesat box into the existing dish and cable. Benefits are that you'll get free HD channels and no monthly charge. If you get Freesat+, you'll then have the ability to record again.PMA - Positive Mental Attitude
It works for me - you try it!0 -
Recently cancelled sky and they leave the dish and box. I now use the dish for a freesat HD box.0

Hi SM
You can connect your dish to a freesat digibox, using the existing cable.
Plenty of useful advise on other forums including Digital Spy:

hope this helps.

Cheers for the positive responses. Is the box any use afterwards? Can I still live pause and record the channels I'd still be able to receive?0

You can only use the recording/live pause facilities if you pay them £10 a month. Its actually not a bad deal as a twin tuner Freesat PVR would cost the equivalent of two years worth of payments to Sky and Freesat doesn't have as many channels as "FreesatfromSky" (140vs240) which is basically what you're on if you end a subscription.0

Humax Direct do Grade A refurbs on the Foxsat HDR at £199 currently. So you'd get your money back within 20 months by going that route. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Is there anyway I could somehow put the remaining sky channels through my BT Vision box and record them there?0

I would double check any of the above information, as several other posts from 'macman' prove to be completely incorrect.

If you have nothing useful to add to this thread please do the OP a favour and bow out.
As to Grade A refurbs Macman is correct.
