Doesn’t say anywhere in the OP's posts she changed her name on any official documents, and you can use any name you like at any time so long as it's not for fraud. So still no law being broken.

Her posts don't say it either way. Which scenario is more likely, that she has legally changed it or she hasn't?

Also consider the fact that she put her married name on the insurance. No, it's not illegal (in the absence of fraud as you say), but if her legal name and the name on her licence were both her maiden name, do you really think that's likely?

Your scenario is hardly the most probable one. Fair enough that you put it forward, but hardly an excuse for your lack of politeness in earlier posts.

I am never polite to bullies; it's a failing of mine. You will notice I am civil to you as you are always to my knowledge civil to everyone and have certainly been polite to me and not bullied anyone.

I am pretty certain (in my opinion only) that if she can produce her DL, Passport and marriage certificate the insurance company and the enforcers of the law of the land will be satisfied that everything is in order and no intent to deceive or defraud was intended. As I have allready posted official names can be plural in some cases. Unless she had a horrendous insurance record before she got married and did not disclose it.

So, you are allowed to have an opinion but no-one else is.

The only one being a bully (and other things) on this thread is you. Indeed, your pettiness and stupidity appears to have scared the OP off. You have destroyed the thread which is not helpful to anyone.

Ok, you are breaking the law there but probably not enough to cause any real problems.

again, another law broken but probably not enough to cause rejection.

I wouldnt be surprised if they are more interested in your financial position or if you can supply both sets of keys or not.

Nope. No bullying whatsoever there. Maybe I'm looking at the wrong post, was there another one you had in mind?

Did anyone say anything about intent to deceive or defraud? Plenty of Road Traffic offences take absolutely no notice of intention whatsoever - if you did it then you are guilty. Sure, people with no ill intention probably have a low chance of being prosecuted, but that doesn't negate the fact that the law has been broken and dunstonh was doing the OP a favour to inform her of that.

Again no law is being broken. No one is using a false name, both versions of the name are acceptable in law. And telling someone they are breaking the law when they are not is bullying and appeal to authority.

I am out of this thread.

Why do you always want to have a go at people you know are not trolls and are genuinely trying to help?
    Yes sure people make mistakes.
When I know I've made one I apologise.

But you seem to always want to have a go at people who you know (through years of being on here) are genunine folks and I just don't get that.

If you want to help people by correcting mistakes then that's fair enough and if you know someone is a genuine poster then there are nice ways of doing that. But why stick the knife in when 99% of the time they are giving their free time to help??

You are the person that is constantly scolding others, so I think it's a case of the pot calling the kettle black on that one.

Anyway, why don't you take any personal comments off board.
It's pretty tiresome for others tbh.
but I expect you will want to have the last word.

  • Thanks for all your replies,

To clarify a few things I should add that I did take my husbands name, my passport and bank details are in my married name and so is the car insurance. I realise that I should have changed it on my driving licence when I got married but for one reason or another I haven't and I am certainly not trying to defraud anyone. I have completed a change of details application in for the DVLA and I will send it off today after I have dealt with the insurers (3pm :-S) I am just going to be honest with them and say I haven't changed my name on my licence partly because I wasnt sure if we were getting divorced, so it seemed pointless to change it then change it again.

I hope they are not too abrupt with me I've had a stressful week!
    :-(

I'll update you all after the interview.

The spat that has broken out over your licence followed this post:

I am absolutely petrified now because my liscence is still in my maiden name

Ok, you are breaking the law there.....

That was later admitted to be just dunstonh's "impression", and was incorrect.

You have no reason to be "absolutely petrified" over this - no-one is required to alter their name after marriage on their licence.
