    What law is being broken?

She can be known by her maiden name and is under no obligation to change to hubby's name AFAIK. Unless you can link to something that tells us different.

It sounds like the Insurers have her married name on the policy.

The Insurers may not be aware of this yet if they have not seen the driving licence. It may not be an issue when they realise it but they may want an explanation and / or the licence changed etc

I was under the impression that you had to use your legal name on the driving licence. If you choose to use your maiden name then you can do so as long as that remains your legal name but if you choose to take your husbands surname then you need to change passport and driving licence to match your legal name.

You cant flit between the two as it suits you without completing the necessary legal documents.

OK so it's just your impression. Do you do any others apart from someone who talks about things they know nothing about, maybe Frank Spencer?

I know it's only wiki but they say there is no such statute in England.

In fact the law says you may use as many surnames as you please.

Likewise the CAB on their website states you can change your name at any time, legal documents not needed except for passport etc.

So thank you for your unsubstantiated opinions which could have caused distress to someone. Who was looking for info and advice, not your made up opinions.

I notice you never bothered to find a link to back up your untruths. Do people often let you away with that sort of behaviour?

I actually rang the passport office before going on holiday three years after we got married and clarified this slightly: As long as my passport was in the same name as the booked ticket it was still valid for use.

I also used to use it as ID alongside my marriage certificate until it was out of date. No problems with that either.

    A bit harsh douglas.
Ok, someone made a mistake, big deal.
Let he who has committed no sin..........blah, blah

dunstonh spends a lot of time on here helping people with his expertise and is right 99% of the time, so your criticism is very harsh if you had knowledge of his efforts.

You can always check people's posts to see if they are a troll or a genuine case of a mistake.

adouglasmho, you may want to password protect your computer. It looks like a 5 year old has started using it.

Lisyloo in a scolding mood again, we see!

A problem arises when anyone posts in an authoritative manner.

Though this was not the case! Dunstonh did say he was just giving us his "impression".

But he shouldn't complain about a bit of leg pullin.

Anyone who uses an authoritative style to post their advice, uses a sig to give us their professional qualifications (and doesn't come back and stand corrected when someone else makes the effort to put things right) has got to be prepared for as bit of joshin on a board like this.

I'd call it supportive, actually :-)
But then you always like to see the bad in everyone, don't you Quentin.

    Has he complained?
joshin and leg pullin are fine :-)

Don't know what your point is in your comment aimed at me - but it looks like more scolding!

No he hasn't complained. My post was in reply to you!

When I say "he shouldn't complain", you can read it as "I doubt very much he'll be complaining"

Why do you always want to have a go at people you know are not trolls and are genuinely trying to help?
    Yes sure people make mistakes.
When I know I've made one I apologise.

But you seem to always want to have a go at people who you know (through years of being on here) are genunine folks and I just don't get that.

If you want to help people by correcting mistakes then that's fair enough and if you know someone is a genuine poster then there are nice ways of doing that. But why stick the knife in when 99% of the time they are giving their free time to help??

You are the person that is constantly scolding others, so I think it's a case of the pot calling the kettle black on that one.

Anyway, why don't you take any personal comments off board.
It's pretty tiresome for others tbh.
but I expect you will want to have the last word.

I have no problem being corrected when wrong and would acknowledge it accordingly, as I have done in the past (I believe I did with one of Quentins posts the other day). I dont mind a bit of leg pulling either. However, the response from adouglasmho was rude, aggressive and uncalled for. That said, it doesnt bother me in the slightest. I have been around too long to let people with poor atttitudes like adouglasmho worry me.
