You're expecting English to be logical?
Morer people would find it easier to learn if it were.

What about the opposite, i.e. if there are more
Are there 2 different words for more depending on the type of thing being referenced?
If not, and we don't need a distinction for "more", then I see no need for a distinction for "less" (or there is an opening here to invent a new word).

    There are morer people
    There is more bread

Quite - why do we need Less and Fewer, can't we just have more and not more? and plus not more if there is a lot less?

why don't we do away with some of the words too and just use symbols instead. eg +!more

I think there's a case for more words, just look at how many meanings there are for the word "set".

In 1066 the Normans played an away fixture in Hastings, they won and stayed and imposed their ways and language (French) on the indigenous Saxons who refused to give up their existing language. Hence the two got merged giving us the rich, full language we have today.
    Isn't TV marvellous

That would be doubleplusgood. It's a beautiful thing, the destruction of words.

At least, much more of this, moreover, and many lesser men might mostly agree. Phew!
