Is 9 like 10?
I thought 9 was like 6?0 -
2 is like 10
Maybe he has one house with 30 bedrooms which is like ten x 3 bedroom houses - if you know what I mean like me duck.
GGThere are 10 types of people in this world. Those who understand binary and those that don't.0 -
What I hate the most is when someone tries to correct you about something you have said/written correctly. I was once marked down on an assignment for writing something like "He gave it to my brother and me" because my tutor thought it should be "my brother and I."
No matter how many times I tried to explain that as you would say "he gave it to me" not "he gave it to I" therefore "me" is correct, my tutor just couldn't get her head around it and kept insisting I was wrong and my sentence was impolite.0 -
Does that mean we can communicate in more subtle and descriptive ways that are more precise in meaning?
Yes. For example, there is no difference in Polish between "shade" and "shadow"...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

My Dad's pet hate is "it looks like it's going to rain"...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

Isn't TV marvellous
Apparently the Normans were actually Vikings
yes TV is great. 'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -

The real nightmare is when you try to correct someones spelling and get it rong 'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. Actually, as I write this it does.
I came in to this world with nothing and I've still got most of it left. :rolleyes:0 -
No, it looks as if it's going to rain (here too)...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0
