Who's used Megabus?

Everyone is wrong unless they agree with you.
MegaBus is one of the worst forms of travel I have ever been on, I have used them for London to Edinburgh a number of times, I have used trains in the past every day for 3 years running, which have been bad, but by far worse MegaBus beat any old train by miles!!
The drivers are not very polite and often will leave there pick up point 5 minutes early, as happened to one of my friends, and one time I was on one, the driver was using his mobile phone without a hands free kit I do recall.
The driver put a side though, the coaches they have are nasty and smelly.
I really do not agree with anyone using one UNLESS they really have no other choice and want a rubbish ride
No everyone dont agree with you FACT.
Maybe you are just too POSH to use them.0 -
i'm a happy, repeat megabus customer.
i'd second the advice about getting to the departure point a little early. also make sure you take plenty of drinks, snacks and things to keep you entertained en route.
i've only ever once been delayed on a megabus and that was due to seriously bad traffic, so hardly the fault of the driver.
as for being forced to sit near unpleasant co-passengers, that can happen to anyone on any form of transport. you pay your money and you take your chancesknow thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -
You are all wrong

Megabus seem to have a selection of different vehicles.
1) the national express pullman style coaches. Absoutely faultless.
2) the decommissioned double decker style that have obvioulsy been bought off a regional company
Saying that I would still travel with them, but I had a very sickie journey on the double decker ( i think this was london to bournemouth leg) as the old seat I was sitting on bounced the whole way.
National express also do fun fares for £1 if you book way in advance, Ive had these a lot of times but you need to be organised to get in early to get the quid fares. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

May I remind you, this is a free open forum and anyone, can post anything (within reason and within the rules) and anyone can have there own thoughts on what they want, be that you do agree with them or not.
The fact that you and another member decided to pick my posts out against the other members who HAVE also, like me, stated to avoid MegaBus, shows you must really have a dislike to me, in which case, you should simply not read my posts, it doesn't get that simple.
This is a open forum and I will post my view and how I have used a firm/company, i don't come to you and say 'No that's wrong' so why come to my posts?
Admin are already fully aware of a few members here, who appear to be following me around and replying to my posts, if it continues I will report the matter again, I am free to have my own thoughts on the subject and in future, request you to respect such.
Thank you!0 -
Travelled from Cardiff-London-Edinburgh...On the way there the bus was perfectly fine, no problems but on the way back the first bus broke down in newcastle, we switched to a new bus (after an hour of waiting at 2am) which then broke down at services, they then put us on a standard city double decker bus which ended up driving at 5mph on the motorway at which point the driver pulled in to services and refused to drive the bus as it was dangerously slow. After then waiting another two hours(at about 7 in the morning) they finally sent two coaches which managed to get us the rest of the way. We then missed our bus from London to Cardiff, but they did put us on the next available bus. After all this we did get a refund, but a refund of £8 just didnt seem to do the trip justice.
Maybe we just had a bad experience but dont fancy getting a megabus any time soon.0 -

I've used them twice.
The first time they forgot to pick us up[ and missed out stop. I ended up getting the train but MB did refund me.
The second time went without a hitch, the picked me up and dropped me off in adequate time (sheffield to london). It was well worth the moneyThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I used Megabus on a recent Manchester - London trip, which was part of a longer trip continued by Eurolines to Amsterdam via Lille, Brussels, Antwerp and Rotterdam.
Fare was a bargain (£6 or £7) considering a peak time arrival (8.30am) into Central London. Journey time of 4hr 30min, including a break at Rugby for drivers to swap vehicles. This compared with 2hr 23min for Virgin Trains who wanted £123-ish! New-ish double decker vehicle with adequate legroom and a clean, basic coach seat.
Journey was non-stop and punctual throughout, ride was (mostly) smooth, drivers were courteous and pleasant. Traffic delays were encounted, but these were beyond their control, and didn't affect the advertised times. Lights were dimmed during darkness hours.
The only downside was the fact that Shudehill Interchange (departure/arrival point) in Manchester was closed, so people had to wait in the carriageway, which prevented an orderly queue being formed to board. It also posed a health and safety issue with the large numbers of pax (it was nearly full) waiting on kerbside, rather than in the safety and warmth of the building.
Although the 'Megabus' branding is warm and friendly, I think people would think of them as a more 'professional' operation if they used the 'Stagecoach Express' brand, as with the X5 route. Some of the stops could be better located (like Oxford), but I guess this keeps costs lower, which is important to many.0 -
I used Megabus to go from London to Leeds and back. Going up there were only 15 people on the bus, but coming back it was full. Yes, the train is more comfortable, but I would certainly recommend Megabus and would use them myself again.0
