Thank you ladies but this wasn't a leaving post to plead for replies (however sweet they are. )
The sad thing is that there are people who wander in here and flit through topics and then pass judgement on others without knowing what this board is all about.
I feel very strongly about cyber bullying (no it wasn't that strong thank fully) but do feel I would rather be blamed for some kind of advertising than making someone feel totally shi11y with unkind and non truthful comments.
So, let me make a few things clear. I know the ettiquete of forums. I'm a moderator for a well known (if your in the business) writers forum. We deal with spammers every day. I'm NOT a cold seller.
I like to feel I am approachable on every level no matter how small the enquirey. My advice costs me nothing to give but could save someone heaps and I am more than happy to give my advice (or what I feel I know) I've been in the wedding business for nearly 20 years. I know how bridal shops operate (or did) I know mark ups and whether some people get cross at this, I did a very succesful blog about costs and why they are so high.
I like weddings, no I love weddings, they run through my veins. I drive my family to distraction with the blessed things, but that's me.
The reason for the comp is simple. I want each and every bride to be to be able to have the best, to make her dream come true whatever the style of gown she wants. Why should the well off be able to afford our unaffordable?
I'm just me, a mad bird with a passion, so sue me for loving my job!

I'm a lurker but even I can see the value and help that Linda provides on an almost daily basis.

Perhaps the people who have sent such unnecessary messages could write here why they think they have a reason to complain? I will suspect they wont.

Linda I would suggest you report them, we all know you play by the rules and such PM's should not be tolerated by MSE.

I have no grounds. Only their opinion to which they are entitled.

But sending you messages on the sly, just seems so mean :(
  • Linda, your advice has probably saved brides thousands. I wouldn't have had a clue what hoop to get for my dress and my bridal shop were more interested in their profit margin than telling me what style I should get.

Weddings are very much a word of mouth business. You know what they say - "If you're not happy with our service please let us know, if you're happy please tell your friends". Why should you have to tell your Clients NOT to say what your quality is like.
Don't worry about typing out my username - Call me COMP
(Unless you know my real name - in which case, feel free to use that just to confuse people!)

I'm confused, how is a PM sly? Just as if it is cyber bullying the mods will do something about it, if it is someones opinion and not worth bothering about it isn't cyber bullying?!?

FTR I have sent no one PMs and i don't believe Linda advertises on here, she is a wonderful asset to this board imo.
