ex girlfriend has got to leave

  • When you invited her to move in with you you also took on a certain moral responsibility. She gave up whatever accommodation she had to live with you. Now you want to chuck her out. Ok, things have gone sour, but try to end it on a decent footing. Give her a reasonable time to find somewhere else and help her to look. Store her things for her until she settles into her new home. Maybe you will still end up as friends.
  • my girlfriend moved in with me 3 months ago , but now we have split up .and i have asked her to leave by oct 1st . what rights do i have if she says she will not leave ?...no the house is in my sole name . all she gave me was £400 and that was four weeks ago . but it was given cos at the time i had a bit of a cash flow prob . and nothing is written down to say she can live there . but last night she got mad so i gave her till the 1st october to get out . then i will change the locks . am i in my rights to do this ?...thank you will go get them today so i am ready . yes i know it is a bit harsh to change the locks . but then the question is what do i do with her stuff if i change them , she has loads and loads of boxes in the house .
the legal advice has already been given by other posters. why are you being so harsh- does your ex girlfriend work full-time? if so you're expecting her to find somewhere to live and pack and transport all her stuff in such a short time. does she have money for a bond or rent? if not are you literally going to throw her onto the streets and make her homeless. why don't you help her look for somewhere else - she may be more willing to be move out saving you alot of money and hassle. you must have cared for her at some point- you went out with her and lived together for 3 months!!. have you stopped caring so quickly- you may have split up but she still deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. she's not a bag of rubbish you put out for the council to take to the tip but a warm blooded human being with nerve endings that feels! whilst both of you are probaly feeling bad about the relationship break up as least you have a roof over your head. can she stay at a friends or parents house etc- or don't you give a damm anymore?
  • she did tell me that her stuff will be moved next weekend . but last night she text me with abusive text as i have been staying at friends to stay out of her way . so thats when i told her to be out on the 1st .

Do not listen to any 'legal' advice given on here... It is not professionally given and would not be binding if anythigng went wrong... Call into your local CAB office for advice, so you at least have documentary evidence of due process.

How did she give you this £400? Cash in hand would be hard for her to use to prove a rental agreement, but if it was a direct funds transfer, check etc... The landlord and tenant law has changed a lot - mostly to redress the balance of power so all the benefit no longer lies with the 'land lord'. At best she will be probably classed as an 'occupier with basic protection', but if she is cunning/anyry/revengeful, she could still screw you over...

As I said - CAB office, pronto...

  • there never was a rental agreement . i have never asked her for a penny , as i said the £400 was because i had cash flow prob . was not for or towards the house / bills .

Best option could be to murder her. Although you're not likely to get away with it and it could be noisy/messy too.

It doesn't matter - never underestimate a woman scorned... Just prepare yourself. It might not be as easy as simply changing the locks...

What can she possibly do if you change the locks and leave her stuff outside on the drive? Nothing

A woman scorned- PAH. She breaks the law, she needs to pay the price. Its his house, he can use a number of methods to get shot of her.
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast
