I've had my LBM and now it's time to sort it out once and for all

• why's this made me really depressed? I only started this a few weeks ago. What did I expect?

I keep wishing for a lottery win or some kind person to just pay it off. I just want it gone.

But that's not realistic.

I got into debt over a few years so paying it off is going to take just as long isn't it?

I have 2 children, it's not like I can just go and get more jobs to pay it off NOW. I just don't have the time.

Excuse my ramblings, i'm just trying to sort my head out and remove it from my a@*e

hi there primrose
play.com i think you can sell dvd's. Amazon too I think, but with amazon it is only good for single dvd's as they have a set price for postage. Ebay you might get rid of them, but not for much money necessarily.

And yes it will tkae a while for you to get out of the debt. We are ALL impatient at the beginning of our journeys. You are not alone in that. Use it as a spur to motivate you to continue, when you get down

sometimes, as long as you get your title and description right it can be better to sell dvds together in a job lot - maybe group them together in similar types, a mixture of better/newer and less good/older ones.

this way, you reduce your ebay and paypal selling costs (and postage costs) too. have a look on advanced search/completed items to see what others have done/sold
• thanks for your replies chev and fireside. I'll be listing the dvd's once kids are back at school. I think i'm putting too much pressure on myself to ebay/amazon everything NOW when really the holidays are tough enough without all that. I've had a really down day today:( not just the debt but life really. Kids whinging as 'we're not doing anything' we'll have to get out somewhere tomorrow or else we'll all go mad:( Thankfully we're planning a trip to the kids club cinema as it's £2.50 per child with a free adult. I'll take drinks and snacks. Experience tells me that we will have to then take kids somewhere to run off excess energy.

Not sure how to snap myself out of the rubbish mood:( maybe i'll try coming up with a list of positive things i've done since my LBM and short term goals? Might help?

Ah primrose - days like these are all part of the journey..... have had a few myself since LBM (no 2!) just remind your self you are doing all the right things, you are not spending on the cc's and doing the best you can to reduce what you normally spend - all the advice I have seen from the peeps on here is that if you manage to keep doing this for the first couple of difficult months eveything then becomes much easier and you'll be making overpayments and reducing that balance before you know it
chin up hon WE WILL DO THIS :-)

It does get easier but even then there are times when things catch up with you when you least expect it

• Well I had a bit of a spend yesterday, nothing too major, kids club cinema (£5) soft play (£10ish) and a takeaway (£20) not too good really but nevermind it was bank holiday:o

DH and I are embarking on a diet.I'm beginning to have to squeeze into clothes and I don't have the money to buy new ones, let alone the fact I really don't want to buy a size bigger:rotfl:so it's a must. I'm sure in a week i'll fall off the wagon. I was thinking of starting today but got into work and it was someone's bday so she bought cakes:D plus I need to buy some food and plan meals so that's the plan for tonight, meal plan and online shop.

I didn't get round to ebay either so that's a job for another day

I'm also gonna try and take a few mins tonight to right a list of positives from starting my diary and also short-term goals. Maybe goals to reach before next half term, so about 7 weeks time.

Right I should be working:o
• I'm trying to work out a meal plan for the next week and a half, I'd like to only spend £100 MAX. Preferably less. I've been through the cupboards, they're pretty bare. School packed lunches will be back though, which are hard to work out as dd would love to take dairylea dunkers everyday but i'm not paying for them! And she likes the ready made jelly in pots but they're really expensive. I tried buying a few small pots and making my own jelly but she didn't eat it:mad: I think the manufacturer must put something in the pots to keep it more solid

Sorry you've been feeling down Primrose, I've been the same today!

Would it work out any cheaper to make your own 'dairylea dunkers' using ritz crackers or breadsticks and a tub of dairylea which you can portion out (or own versions). I might be talking out of my own !!!! here though, so feel free to ignore me! :rotfl:

I must say I agree about the jelly though - it doesn't taste the same as pots, I thought I was just making it wrong though!!

could you try thinking of replacement things for those expensive lunch items that might appeal more to kids? such as jelly with a few sweets (?few haribos or dolly mix) set inside? add less water/more gelatin?

could u buy the big tubs of dairylea (or s/market version) and scoop some each day in small pot with breadsticks, vegsticks etc

have a look on the old style board for meal planning and general ms ideas.

we have 'free' veg from the garden/allotment (aubergine/courgettes/red onions) tnite and i will make pesto pasta (jar open in fridge) with roasted veg and a little grated cheese on top.

we are finally going to defrost the freezer tomorrow - so can start stocking that up again too x
