You wanted it re-doing anyway because of the join where the former chimney was.

    Insurance pays - just remember, it's not a flood - it's a leak.

    Is it continuing to drip?

Shut the door (not completely) in case more comes down.

Sounds like you`re having one of those hamlet moments ....where you wonder what on earth can happen next! *cue music*

As Z says close the door (gently) after putting a bucket under any drips of course & deal with it tomorrow.

At least you will sleep well Honey.

Most of the ceiling is now on the bathroom carpet :o...Rang the insurance company first thing to make a claim. Looks like the only thing they;ve changed about their customer service is the on-hold music (Michael Buble and Elton John :D)

....apparently the home emergency service is "nothing to do with the insurance company"......even though the insurers are the ones charging me £40p.a. for it. Here we go again. I nevertheless insisted the delay in attendance of the plumber was all logged on the file (and at least now all telephone calls to the insurance company are recorded)

The global loss adjusting firm that handled my flood claim previously are still one of their two preferred suppliers but this time I have been allocated the alternative firm. Thank goodness i thought.......until I googled them and found they are not professional loss adjusters, just a property surveying and house inspection firm ..... and there is a worrying thread about the firm's behaviour in handling and valuing claims on CAG.:(

Big bruv builder came this morning to look at the ceiling/loft and prepare a quotation..the loft needs drying out as the timbers are soaked, the ceiling(what's left of it) will need to come down and be replastered and the electrics sorted..I am going to ask him to attend on wednesday for moral support.:)

The Homeserve plumber arrived this afternoon and glued together the overflow waste.......and then said the reason the header tank got too full is because of the bad plumbing courtesy of....yep you;ve guessed it.....dodget and bodget ... The plumbing still needs to be rectified (at my expense of course) otherwise the ball valve will not work properly (although at least the overflow will end up outside instead of inside now) but worst case is the tank could split

So it will take a while before things start moving - drying company (if needed) probably won;t start til next week, once the inspector's report is received by the insurers.....and there's a £320 excess

Spent most of today huddled up and shivering with cold despite having the CH on full blast to dry out the bathroom..think I might have picked up a virus..so early bed tonight.

    Back tomorrow

Well fortunately this time, you're not really needing the services of someone who can value articles. It's a ceiling. They should be able to manage a ceiling.
