You can put together this bundle yourself on the sky site.
  • was the 50% off just for tv, broadband or the total price including line rental?

The MSE code was just for the TV part if I recall correctly.

when i rang to cancel they only offered 10pc off. not happy as new customers get it lower so i asked to leave.

question, when i am disconnected am i left with the free to air channels right? also does everything on my box get deleted permanently even if i reactivate later?

You can still see the FTA services. Any recordings remain on your box but you lose the entitlement to see them.

If you add a TV package on at a later date then you can see the recordings again.

Yes, you can still access all the FTA and FTV channels, which includes some HD channels:

    BBC One HD
    BBC TWO HD
    ITV HD
    Channel 4 HD
    Channel 5 HD
    NHK World HD
    ARISE News HD
    RT HD

Nothing gets deleted but you can't pause or rewind live TV, record programmes, or watch previously recorded programs unless you rejoin Sky (or pay their £10.25pm Sky+ fee).
  • Threatened possible move to TalkTalk, with general enquiry about pricing, and whether on contract or not. Have been offered all existing package for £12 less per month, on 12 month contract. Saves hassle of new email addresses, phone No. etc etc. Worth a pop. Have been with BT for donks and this seems like a 'good enough' deal financially, together with reduction of faff. Cool, We say haggle away!

    QUOTE=Bob Bridges;60524895]Thanks zennith,
And just kept the current package but £10 cheaper.
Mentioned leaving - a real option for us.
    Mentioned freeview - ditto.

Hi, my 12 month contract with VM comes to an end this week (I've been with them for about five years in total now). Currently I'm paying this per month:

    PHONE: £14.99 rental + £8 XL anytime landline calls + £2.25 caller display = £25.24
    TV: £8 M+ package + £5 TiVo fee = £13
    BROADBAND: £18 for 60Mb

    TOTAL: £56.24

This is exactly the same price as I get when I go for a new package on VM's website (once their initial 6 month special offer comes to an end).

I've read here that both VM and Sky are proving tougher nuts to crack these days when it comes to haggling, but this is a LOT of money (£675 a year!) and I'm wondering whether I have any hope of bringing the price down. My wife loves the TiVo box, which is about our only reason for not switching to one of BT's YouView packages, the comparable cost of which would be about £40/month, a substantial saving.

Any tactics I should employ when I phone up to try and bring down my cost? (I know they'll probably encourage me to pay my line rental a year in advance and save that way, but I'm not sure I want to tie myself in for another full 12 months). Any department I should make sure I speak to? Any help appreciated.
There is a deal to be done....I rang last week to say I was thinking of leaving because costs were rising and I was trying to economise. Said I rarely used the land line because of the call charges, we use our mobile phone allowance when we can. Majority of our incoming calls are junk calls.
Lovely lady at Virgin media doesn't want to lose our custom so she will see if she can save us some money!!!.

Currently paying £31.74 for phone line rental and XL broadband. I think weekend calls were free but paid for all others. Always seems to end up around £36 per month. No TV.

Offered me same broadband, line rental, free calls anytime, 100 minutes of free calls to mobiles and 0845 numbers etc. plus a TiVo box and basic tv package for £30 per month. Free installation of the box also.

As we are on notice to Sky the TiVo box will be very handy.
