phoned sky as we pay them over £70 a month and have tv phone and broadband with them. been a loyal customer since moving in 2007 and all they suggested to reduce payments was to reduce package! Thanks Sky for your customer care.
got entertaimnment sports and movies package and unlimited broadband and off peak free calls to landline. Anyone know if it's cheaper elsewhere? thanks
Check Martin's weekly email for cheap phone and broadband deals. Add for TV, depends what you tend to watch... I will just continue using my sky box without subscription. Good luckA big believer in karma, you get what you give :A

Then wait to see what offers appear. If none appear you can always call them up the day before you are going to have the entitlements removed and say you have changed your mind.0 -
Hi Just to say I called Sky asking to reduce my package due to financial climate etc. Then stated I wanted to remove TV package (I have full tv package with HB, Broadband and telephone) as couldnt afford it and barely watch it as im always upstairs in bedroom. I was offered 20% for 6 months. I refused this and said no i'd like to remove tv package so was put through to cancellations.
The lady I spoke to asked stated i had been a cusotmer for over 6 years and apart from costs was the service ok. I said yes but also Virgin are offering me free extra box and multiroom and no HD charge if i switch to them (this is true as im in a virgin email and get a letter every 2/3months with a deal to switch). The lady asks me what price Virgin are offereing and I mention loads of free for 12 months etc stuff but I havent confirmed as i need to check cancellation notice here etc. I am then asked if id be willing to stay if they match virgins offer.
To cut a long story short I'm offered another HD+ box for £29, 12 months free multiroom, 12months half price HD, 20% off tv package for 12 months, I also mentioned switching to plusnet fibre optic broadband, so am offered 12 months half price line rental (line was with BT although calls with sky) and 6months half price fibre optic broadband.
Well chuffed as saved almost £450 for the year as a result :T:beer:0 -

The mention of "a couple of calls"indicates to me that you are ringing and asking for a discount rather than ringing up and canceling altogether. In my experience the former rarely gets good results but the later often does.
Cheers
I know what you mean, if they think you've no intention of cancelling, you're in a weak position. My first call was 'please give me a discount' which had always worked in the past, my second was a genuine cancellation call.
They definitely have a new approach to customers calling; you can see from the last few pages that they'll let you cancel. Both operators told me they don't have access to the sort of discounts they used to have. In my view, because their discounting policy is so well known now (largely because of sites like this!) they want to change it.
The guy did a very persistent sales job on me to stop me cancelling and only after half an hour when I said I still wanted to cancel was I offered a 20% discount for 6 months. It's not brilliant but it'll do for now.0 -
My sky cancellation is due on the 10th of this month after I cancelled as they only offered me 25% for 6 months of normal package. I said I was moving to virgin.
Have just received an e-mail today offering new free sky+HD 2tb box and half price t.v and HD for 6months. Happy days :j
I had no intention to cancel, just wanted an offer I can't be without my sky! Especially sky 1 now on Sunday eve!0 -
I've just rang up to cancel my SKY TV subscription as I said I couldn't afford the payments on it anymore with having the broadband as well. They offered my nothing by means of discount etc....
...I'm hoping they get back to me with an offer shortly before the sky package is meant to cancel on the 2nd Feb, fingers crossed for the 2Tb HD box and 6 months half price like the previous post!!0 -

Presumably that's a 12m contract.... so after the 6m 1/2 price, you'll be paying full price for the TV?A big believer in karma, you get what you give :A

Good news..
You can use the Sky Dish to have FreeSat HD. So compare what channels FreeSat HD offers, against what Sky basic package offers.
For us, the extra channels that Sky offers on the basic package won't be missed by us and we can always go back when the offers pick-up again.
Just the outlay of the FreeSat HD box, or pick-up 2nd hand and resell when you go back to Sky.0 -
like some of the previous threads, sky absolutely not interested in giving any discounts whatsoever..
have been with them since 2009 and have phone and broadband also. i am now paying £48.48 a month and i cant afford it, so called and asked for good deal to stay..nowt, nada, nothing offered. so cancelled phone and b/b and have signed up to Primus. kept sky tv as sadly freeview doesnt show the sky channels and i like some of the progs. so tv £16 pm and phone and b/b going to be 16.99 = £32.99 somewhat better0 -

Just out of curiosity how are you getting Sky for £16 a month because I believe the cheapest sky package is now £21.50 a month?0
