I've never had Sky before, but moving home soon so going to use that as the excuse to get it
A friend has asked if I would say they referred me so they get a kickback too, am I going to miss out on a better deal for myself if I do that (that sounds really selfish doesn't it...)0 -
We just submitted my 30 day cancellation notice to Sky.
We had Sky+ HD, all the entertainment packs & full Sky Sports package. Was paying about £32 a month for this but was going up to £57 in February.
Our phone & Broadband is with VM and we wouldnt change that for anything.
The maximum discount Sky offered me to stay was 10% off (so about £5.70 discount/month) which still represented an increase of £20/month.
Not had a call from them. Anyone with any tips on how to haggle or a contact number for Sky for a dept that might be interested in retaining our custom?0 -
I've got Sky+ HD, full entertainment pack,Sky Sports and 1 multi room. Gave notice on 21/12 and was offered 6 months discount on the TV packages, which I turned down on the basis I would get a better offer nearer the cut off date. Sky rang last week when iwas in hospital with my baby sons couldn't speak to them, yesterday, whilst I was out at footy training with my teenager and again this evening when I finally could speak. I have managed to get a 50% discount on the TV package for 12 months with no tie in, plus a free basic HD box for the multi room. I am saving £22.50 per month. Very Happy!0

Oh,and I wasn't armed with any comparable prices I just said I knew could get a cheaper price for the same package with Virgin....then when I checked Virgin after I had done the deal this evening our area can't even get their TV!! Not an approach I'd recommend, but I just hadn't had the time to do my homework since giving notice and they caught me on the hop this evening!0

Well, the last deal I had was 18 months ago when I had the TV pack for half price. I was well out of contract, so I first phoned up their upgrades and asked what deals they had for me to stay with them rather than move to Virgin. They said NONE.
So I then phoned the Sky Cancellations and explained Virgin offer the whole package for 33quid a month atm, but as a loyal Sky customer for the last 8 years id like to stay with them.
Guy offered straight off the bat 25% off the TV package for 12 months. I then asked about sky HD and said a friend had got an offer where it was half price? He then said he could do half price for 6months. I said I thought it was 12 months? He went away and checked and said yes it was 12 months.
Then onto the HD boxes and he said normal HD box was free (same as is detailed on the sky website basically). I said about the 1TB box and the guy really did not know much about it. He thought it allowed you to record even more channels at the same time etc. Initially he said that was going to cost me £149! I then pointed out on the sky website it says its only £49 for existing customers. So he then said it was actually free but £64.99 installation! At this point he was very confused and had to ask an assistant who pointed out correctly that its £49 + £15 self install.
All in all the box is the same price as advertised on the website. And with the 25% off the TV package and half price HD I will still be paying the same as I am now (£43 a month incl line rental + internet), but will be getting HD for free.
Im now going to call them and see what they will do on the internet side of things. I have heard people getting free line rental?!?!!!!0 -
Phoned sky yestarday and threatned to leave them.
Initiall offered 25% of tv package which would have saved me£60.
I wanted a better deal and they ended up offering 12 month free line rental which i have accepted.0 -
Last night I phoned up to "leave" sky as we are moving house. We have been out of contract for some time, but never tried to get a deal before. Spoke to a very helpful lady in retentions who let me upgrade my package (basic + sports) to everything and then gave me a 50% discount on the whole lot for 6 months. Ive gone from paying £40 p/m to £24p/m and now I get the movies! Happy days.
I did exact same as above, and i got 25% off for 12 months. Better in my pocket than theirs! :j:beer:0 -
I have been with VM for many years.
Via Quidco, I attempted to order a few days ago Sky +, TV entertainment package, phone free evening & w/end calls (inc 0870 and 0845 nos), unlimited b/band, phone line rental, free WIFI router and free install for everything (apart from a new PSTN phone line install) with a 12 month contract. After I factor in the Quidco cashback, M&S voucher, £10 fee for phone line install, it would have effectively cost me approximatey £27-00 per month for all of the above.
However there was a problem with my order. After a few escalations and emails, a very helpful lady has now credited my account with the appropriate money to match the Quidco cashback offer and voucher offer so I will still pay the effective £27-00 per month cost.
As soon as my order has been completed, she has agreed to contact me again to discuss and agree a gesture of good will for my order problems. I will attempt to get Sky Sports thrown in for free. Probably won't get it but is worth a try; after all he who dares wins as they say.
I have got all of the above in writing as well.
For info, VM could not match or beat the above.
Really pleased and many thanks Sky.:money:0 -
I have just got off the phone with Sky and have improved my monthly finances. :j
I had a look at what Virgin were offering and it looked like a cheaper deal so I phoned up Sky to cancel and they offered me;- 25% discount on my TV package for 12 months
- Free SkyTalk line rental for 9 months

Hi,
I hope it's ok to post my question here (wasn't sure where else to put it).
I'm currently a VM BB customer and have been for the past 4 years paying £21.50 per month (way too much!).
I've noticed that VM are doing a TV with Tivo, BB and phone deal for £20 per month (free for 1st 3 months) plus £13.90 line rental - plus quidco are doing £142.50 cashback, effectively taking the monthly price to £22.65 per month.
My question is, if I were to cancel broadband and my husband was to take out the above deal would he be classed as a new customer. the current broadband is in my name only.
Thanks in advance
NB I tried to call virgin today (quidco deal finishes in 14 hours) to see what they could do but they are closed. I have also noticed I could probably get a cheaper deal with Sky but would prefer the Tivo box - am investigating Sky deals also.0
