The Final Push - Getting Rid of the Last Loan and CC

Back from town and did well I think - hair is looking fab (anything would have been an improvement), bought a new eyeliner (old one almost used up) using a No 7 voucher and £2.50 cash, also spent Advantage points to get free shampoo and conditioner:j.
The hair cut was budgeted for but still quite expensive but badly needed. It makes you feel soooo much better when you look nice doesn't it?
Bought the Sun and got the voucher - texted mum to do the same and she was in Tesco at the time so bought the paper, rippedout the voucher and gave it straight to the till lady then went and bought one for next Friday's shopping - have saved mum £10:beer:!
Did my mini shop - £6.95 in Mr S (stuck to list and used 50p off voucher) and £3 in the butcher so just snuck in under the £10 expected spend.
Posted ebay thing and bought a box to send the Music Magpie stuff but couldn't work out how to put it togther in the carso will have to pop out to the post office again later when I've been on the box assembly training course!
Other jobs for today include....- Check when library books are due back
- Post the MM stuff after box is sorted
- Put some pounds in the pots
- Stew some manky apples
- Phone payroll people
- Phone tax office
- Book dog into kennels for the wedding weekend
- Put dry washing away
- Do a teeny bit of school work
- Stay in tonight and watch the soaps
- Maybe make some cheesey biscuits
- Update budgets

Grrrr!
Getting nowhere with the tax office and council that have underpaid me.
Tax lady was really nice but can't give me a refund until I start work again and they issue a new tax code - paid about £200 too much I think.
Council are "launching an investigation" into my underpayment - how long that will take is anybody's guess apparently! That's also worth about £150-£200 I think.
I suppose £400 will come in handy in the long term but I could do with it now!
At least I've renewed my library books online to avoid a fine:o0 -
Just listing my thoughts....
CC - £23 balance (to be paid by the end of the month I think)
OD - in credit now but will be overdrawn by about £600 (due to tax and pay debacle) by the next pay day
Savings -
£2650 - account 1, (not to be touched unless an emergency)
£20 - account 2, (ebay proceeds)
£15 - account 3 (was £200 but paid for hols out of it)
Loan repayment - £345 a month
In purse £91
In pots (just started)-
Car ins £2
Xmas 2011 £2
That's it for now.....just helps to see it in black and white.:)0 -
Flipping window cleaner came - another £4.50 gone.
Now in purse £86.50
On the positive side, there a watchers on 2 things on ebay and 1 will sell (hurrah for the bidder!).0 -
Had a bit of a think about budgets last night whilst trying to save a bit extra this month due to pay being messed up.
And I thought that if I managed to save the following...
Possible economy –
Petrol £10,
Food £15,
Cash £20
Total = £45
......it would gain me almost £50 to help ease the overdraft situation a little bit at the end of the month.
None of them are too dramatic and so should be achievable (famous last words!)
I've also sold another ebay item today - just £7 but the sales are now up to £30 (bar pennies) so that's only £20 left to generate to cover the cost of the scan.
We're off to the cinema this afternoon to see The Expendables with Sly Stallone (I lurve him!!). We usually split it with one of us buying the tickets and the other buying the pop and sweets (works out almost the same!) I'll try and opt for the sweets buying and get mine from the shop on the way so its a bit cheaper at the cinema - OH won't compromise on popcorn!
Staying in tonight though so will save a bit of dosh there. OH is doing bike ride thing for charity tomorrow (if it doesn't rain!) so needs to "carb load" apparently today and not drink. Never knew popcorn was classed as carbs! Am making pasta for tea to compensate for it for him0 -
Well, disaster struck when we went to the cinema, got as far as the carpark, tried to shut the doot of the car and it just wouldn't shut! After 15 mins of OH getting more and more worked up we drove to the dealer with me hanging on to the door to keep it closed where the man tried to fix it for half an hour, then had to drive home and pick up his license then back to the dealer to leave the car there to fix and get a courtesy car! What a fun 2 hours!
So we didn't get to go to the cinema but I suppose the up side is that I saved the £13.60 it would have cost me.:o
As a consolation, I bought a bottle of wine on the way home (the third time!) for £4.99 to drink with a movie later.
Money in purse £78.600 -
Morning - well we stayed in last night and watched a film. OH was eyeing up some on Box Office (cost about £5 I think) but I managed to use my female cunning to persuade him that he wanted to watch one we'd recorded on SkyPlus a few days ago and it was his idea.;)
He's gone off on the mega bike ride and will be out most of the day so I'm home alone again. I plan to do a load of housework and get the house all shiny and lovely and maybe mow the front lawn, do 2 loads of washing and change the bed.
I should also do a bit of school work - its getting closer now:eek:
There are a few items closing on ebay today and I'm waiting for payment on one thing - one has a bid and another has 4 watchers so hopefully someone will take the plunge!
We're off to the Lakes on Tuesday (only until Thursday) and so I'll spend a bit of time having a look on the internet seeing what we can do when we're there (taking the dog). I've already paid my half of the cost as a deposit for the accomodation from money I saved up and have spending money in my purse so it should be a fairly "free" trip for me - OH will pay the other half of the guesthouse cost and we'll split the petrol (shouldn't be too much).
That's about it for now so I'd better get on with it.
Might pop back later for an update.

Ebay items have ended - sold one more thing and 1 didn't sell. The total generated from my little flurry of activity is now £30.
I have listed another 12 things today (all at 99p plus postage) but similar items are going for about £2-3 so you never know. They're only Slimming World magazines that were in a pile under the stairs but there seems to be a demand - isn't it odd what some people buy?
I have spent some money today - £2 in Tescos - I went for Pantene shampoo and conditioner as its on offer at half price for the big bottles and I have a £1 off voucher making it £3 for the both BUT they didn't have the conditioner.
The voucher is valid for ages so I'll just wait for it to go on offer again - it normally goes in cycles.
We have a spa day tomorrow that I booked through lastminute.com for £10 each a while ago. Quite looking forward to it. I think we're going to have tea out on the way home too so will try to stick to the budget of no more than £10 each. It's OH's week off and so we're trying to have a "staycation" to make the most if it.
Money in purse £76.300 -
Morning!
We're off to the spa day thing today for a bit of pampering - as I paid for the original treat about 2 months ago OH has decided that he'll pay for the extras for me - so it will be a NO SPEND treat for me on my new regime!
I also joined the 100 day challenge yesterday to try to get rid of one debt in, you've guessed it, 100 days!
I'm aiming for £700 which will be the overdraft acquired from tax overpayment, salary underpayment and generally being skint whilst not working. If I get the money back that's owed to me it shouldn't be too bad but if it takes a long time to do this it's going to be a lot tougher. It starts on Sept 1st so I'll count the latest ebay flurry as its all in paypal or I'm waiting for the cheque.
ETA - payroll head honcho actually just called me back - was gobsmacked! BUT, I need the school to give them the correct rates for them to pay me what they owe me. Schools are on holiday but have emailed them just in case someone picks it up - you never know.0 -
Have heard back from school who tried to fob me off with an excuse but I stood my ground and they are now going to pay up!:j Not sure exactly what I'll get back and when but its a moral victory nonetheless!
Tax office next!
Bought Subways for the two of us for lunch and used a discount voucher so it came to £7 for the two.
Not sure about going out for tea because its like a monsoon here - we'll give it until 6 and see what happens.......
Money in purse £63.300
