The Final Push - Getting Rid of the Last Loan and CC
Comments
-
A few things sold on ebay totalling about £10 profit (need to see how much postage is for one thing). I'll wait until the last buyer pays and then transfer it into the bank account with the rest of the ebay money - I think it should take me to approx £65 but won't know for sure until its all been posted.:)
Been to the cinema and managed to sleep through most of the film- I have a cold and feel all bunged up and tired so not surprising really.
Will rejig the meal plan later to see if I can get a few more days out of what we have - I want to try to reduce the shopping budget for next weekend from £45 to £30 if I can to save another £15 to put towards the overdraft repayment (or rather not get to the expected total overdraft of £744 at the end of the month!)0 -
Feeling a bit better today and it looks like the pooch is feeling better too - eating properly and wanting to go for walks, he even had a play last night - things are on the up!
I have to do some work for school today - need to get it all straight in my mind for this week and next week at least. I start back with an INSET day on Weds and the kids on Thursday. I am quite nervous and scared but I'm sure it'll be fine once I get into it.
I need to pop to Argos to pick up a watch I've reserved - I need it for work and my nice posh watch costs £30 for a new battery (serve me right for having a very expensive watch, a gift I must add!). The new watch costs £7 in the sale and will hopefully last a little while until I can afford a new battery when I get paid.
Otherwise other things to do...- Checked banks (no movement until tomorrow)
- Check ebay
- Checked quidco
- Do at least 3 hours school work
- Put dry washing away
- All food from stores
- Go to pick up cheap watch from Argos
- Try on new suits and find tops to go underneath
- Walk dog for free exercise
- Read library book and order next one online
ETA - Good news - I've lost 1.5 lbs! Haven't really tried too hard either. Hopefully the routine of going back to work will help me lose more.0 -
Well its the last day of freedom before works starts again tomorrow.:eek:
I didn't think I'd be nervous - I'm not usually the type - but I AM!!! I think it may the reality of it all - giving up a well paid job, having a year retraining as a teacher and now finally starting what will be my career for the rest of my working life is daunting!
So a few things to do today before I'm officially the "new girl" (don't take the word girl literally! I'm 38!)....
Need to ..- Post ebay parcels
- Hoover
- Do a bit of school work
- Pop to M&S for a top
- Phone kennels
- Phone BG for final meter readings (swapping to Npower)
- Get stuff ready for tomorrow
- Tidy conservatory and all the books etc strewn all over it from my attempts at work
Right, I am procrastinating - get on with it!0 -
Well M&S sale was still on and I managed to get some bargains (haven't tried them on so don't know how many I'll keep) -
- green long sleeved top £5
- pink short sleeved smart top £5
- 2 vests for under suits £7
- 2 pairs of "no VPL" knickers £2
- 2 bras (desperately needed!) £12
- bottle of M&S perfume that smells like Issey Miyake £6
This will come out of the emergency bank account as without it I'd be wearing suits with no tops underneath to school - not a good look!
Better get on with the rest of the jobs for today!
Surveys balance now £8.65
Money in purse £15.500 -
Hurrah hurrah hurrah!!!!!
Just spoken to a fellow NQT starting at the same school as me who's married to someone in the finance dept at the council and he has confirmed that we will get paid a full months wages on Sept 15th :j:j:j
Apparently, we work 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after payday (if that makes sense!)
So only 2 weeks to suffer until pay day - ta da!!
What a huge relief!0 -
More good news!!! (School was fine by the way)
Came home to a PPI reclaim letter from Lloyds and they've agreed to my claim with no quibble!!:j
I didn't really understand the terms and so posted them on the PPI board and a very kind and clever person (Robbedofmymoney) worked it out for me and they're going to give me approx £2900 back - I nearly died of shock!:j:T
Don't know if it'll be a cheque or they'll pay it off the balance of teh other loan I have with them but either way I don't care!
I have 2 other PPI things to investigate too so I'm now inspired! (Won't be anywhere near as much as this one but you never know!)
ETA - the helpful one (my new best friend!) has said that Lloyds will pay the £2900 into my bank account!!!
It will take a month or so but I'll get it!
When I do get the cash eventually I'll use approx £2500 to make a BIG overpayment to the existing loan and use the rest to pay off my only other debt (an overdraft of £400 by the time its cleared) and £100 to squander to celebrate! Hurrah!!!0 -
Didn't manage to post an update yesterday but no big news to report apart from posting back my PPI offer acceptance letter - just have to wait for the dosh now!:j
Had 2 NSDs out of the 3 in September so far, good for me. Perhaps working is good to stop you spending?
We have to go down south to a wedding tomorrow- not looking forward to it, its an old uni friend of OH that I've only met once (at our wedding). Lots of money for something I don't want to do....
I've posted a couple of ebay things today and that takes my total to £60:T.
Anyway, only less than 2 weeks to payday now then I'm solvent again:D
I'll keep on with the DFW/MSE ways to get rid of the overdraft ASAP. Right better go and sort stuff out for the "trip" tomorrow.....0 -
Just thought - I hadn't mentioned that I've changed my user name its still me though!
Had a really busy weekend - been to the wedding down south and spent today travelling back, doing the food shop and planning lessons for school.
Managed to spend £35 on petrol for OH's car, £45 in Tescos and £32 at the kennels.:eek:
Only the shopping was really budgeted for - had a weak moment with the petrol as he'd paid for the hotel and I completely forgot about paying for the kennels.:o
So its back to frugality now - I've even managed to convince mum to come to see me for the evening on Thursday instead of meeting her half way to collect her dog (I'm babysitting for them whilst they're on hols) - that'll save me about £20 in petrol and I get to see mum (who jumped at the chance to stay the night):T
I have a quiet weekend pencilled in for next week - need it after this one so hopefully will just about make it to payday without pushing the OD even further.
My mission for this week is to do another PPI claim letter and send it off. You never know, I may be on a roll!
Its also going to be packed lunches for the week and I'll try to have at least 2 NSDs. I've already had 3 NSDs in Sept so far, mostly without trying or realising until afterwards.
Right, I need to walk the dog, put a wash on, make lunches and have a bath before 9pm so I'd better get on with it. I'll pop in tomorrow with an update.0 -
I'm officially shattered! My feet are killing me, and I'm not sleeping properly because I'm soooo busy but I'm really enjoying the new job.
The good news is that I'm not spending much - had another NSD today:j. The bad news is that I don't get paid until next week - boo!
I've transferred the ebay money across into my current account to try to minimise the overdraft until I get paid - only £50 but everything helps.
It seems like I'm treading water a bit as I did manage to save quite a bit (£70) but then had to pay for the kennels and OH's petrol so that wiped it all out again.:o
At least I haven't spent anymore I suppose.
Its a good job that I only have the OD and the loan as debt now! I'd be really struggling otherwise. The OD will soon be gone and when I get paid I can start to put some extra money away to start making overpayments and the PPI reclaim money will take a nice chunk off it. I just want to get back to normal and not watching every single penny.
Roll on pay day!0 -
Just a quickie today -
- Transferred £12 into current account from ebay money I forgot about.
- Checked surveys £8.65
- Put minimum petrol in to tide me over to payday
- Paid £28 for dog jabs at the vets:(
- Checked banks - OD will be £630 by payday without the vet bill
