The Final Push - Getting Rid of the Last Loan and CC
Comments
-
Right, after yesterday's excitement its back to reality and getting on with sticking with the budget and trying to make cutbacks to allow me to overpay the new arrangement.
So money based things include....
Do any surveys that come
Post letter to loan company closing the account
Phone CC company to reduce the daft credit limit (why do they keep putting it up?)
Have already transferred my spending money for our minibreak (already paid for) in the lakes to a "holding" account so I don't spend it
Book hotel for boxing night in Sept using quidco if possible
Finish shopping list for tomorrow
Oh, and I've finally been paid - think its wrong but will wait to see the payslip before I starting hassling them.
So better get on with the day!0 -
Have just had a brain wave - not like me!
With my new found financial organisation I've decided to buy two little lockable money pots I saw yesterday in the Card Factory (£1 each I think) so start saving towards Christmas and next years car insurance.
Insurance this year cost about £200 so I'm thinking that £2 a week will pay about half of it this time next year, making it possible for me to pay it in one lump rather than having to spread it over the year. One less DD to pay each month.
For Christmas, I think I'll do the same - may get me a little pot of dosh to go towards something.
I found this..
http://www.days-until-christmas.co.uk/weeks-til-xmas.htm
and apparently its 19 weeks and a day until Xmas day.
So, if I start tomorrow I'll have about £40 to use either on an Xmas night out or towards presents. It might not be that much but if I start now I may get into the habit and continue it on next year and have a much better stash next Xmas.0 -

Thanks Been!
Just back from doing the food shop - took £30 cash out of the bank to try to focus me more rather than pushing a trolley round flinging things in and then have a coronary when I get to the till as usual.
Stuck to the list and only bought 2 cinnamon swirls (56p), custard powder (24p) and crisps (55p) that weren't on the list.
The total bill came to £30.65 and I remembered to redeem the 50p carpark voucher too.:j
Without the treats it would have come to £29.30 so not too bad - will take the extras out of my spending money for the week.
Talking of which, I withdrew £60 (£20 more than usual) yesterday for the week - its more expensive than usual this week due to OH's birthday tomorrow (going out for drinks and a curry tonight with friends). I still have £50 in my purse after spending a few quid on moneyboxes, pop, bread and crisps, post office, envelopes etc since taking the money out.
I also posted my PPI reclaim form to Lloyds - sorted it all out yesterday and the original premium cost almost £2000!!! This is for a loan I paid off last year and Lloyds have been reprimanded by the FO so you never know - can't hurt trying can it? It seems that a lot of people of the forum have been successful with them so I figured it was worth a try? 66p for a stamp may be a good investment!
Right, I must get on with the housework!0 -
My payslip has come and I was right - they've b*ggered it all up!
I've only been paid as an unqualified teacher - it should be half of the stint as unqualified and half as qualified and the tax code is wrong and they've taken a big wodge of tax away too!
Will have to call them on Monday and demand my dosh back!
Good job I've budgeted for the month with what they actually paid me - the extra that I get back (should be a few hundred pounds) will be a nice windfall when it comes now I suppose.0 -
Went out last night for a few drinks and a curry with some friends - managed to spend only £20ish so quite pleased with that.
OH is still in bed and its his birthday so will wake him up in a bit with cards and pressies etc. I've also got a chocolate fudge cake with big candles on so hopefully he'll like that.
I popped around the shop this morning and bought a hangover remedy kit for him (seemed to go a bit bonkers last night!) consisting of a big bottle of pop, some bacon and rolls and a News of the World - will wrap it up too!
I must put some money in the pots I bought today now I have some change - start as I mean to go on.
Thought I'd just pop down what's in my purse so I can keep a track of what I spend money on....
Sunday 15th - £28 in purse - spent £6.30 in shop , £21.70 left to last until next Saturday0 -
Morning - just a quick update.
I managed to get my bag and pashmina for the wedding from ebay for £11 (£1 over my budget but it won't break the bank) so very pleased with that:j.
Today I have to phone the payroll people to sort out my underpayment - I will get that money back!
I have no big plans for today, just school work and walking the dog so my purse will stay firmly at home and I'll try to have a NSD. I don't NEED anything so I will try not to buy anything - those concepts don't always go hand in hand for me!
All food will be from stores today too - fajitas for tea - yummy and uses up onions and peppers from the fridge before they go jogging by themselves:p
Right better get on with it!0 -
I was thinking about going swimming but thought that the £1 it cost (still cheap until my uni discount stops at the end of the month) could stay in my purse and not cause me to lose a NSD.
So, instead I took the dog for a fast walk round the big park and then dug out an old exercise DVD and did a 40 minute leap around the living room with the dog looking at me like I'm completely bonkers:p:p
So I have managed a NSD as all that will happen now is tea cooking, dog walking and the general palava that happens when the OH gets home from work).
Didn't manage to speak to the right person at payroll today - will try again tomorrow.0
