I have a 1.7 Puma which I love, however, I got bad news from the garage today. They said it needs quite a bit of work done on it & have suggested that I look into getting another car.
It's been quite a few years since I last looked for another car, so I'm abit out of touch with what's out there.
Unfortunatly, I haven't got a huge budget & am going to be mainly looking at 2nd hand cars, however, if anyone knows of good deals on new cars, I'm open to advice.
I want something similar to the Puma & am only really looking at cars between 1.3 & 1.8 engine. I love the quirkiness of the Puma, infact, I've never had a "sensible" car. But that suits me & I prefer it that way.
Can anyone give me some ideas of what makes are out there which are good for what I'm looking for. I have no family by the way, it's just me & my OH.
Thanks.

Why not get another Puma if you like them so much? They can be picked up for around a grand, depending on condition/mileage.0

I am looking at Pumas. Mine is on T reg, so would be looking at 2003 model now I think. I've just got a feeling they'll be hard to find now.
I don't mind changing car make altogether, just haven't really got a clue what is out there.0 -
I feel your pain! I have a Puma too and I'm selling it at the moment - but it's breaking my heart to do it.. been such a good car to me, if they made a new version I'd buy it in a minute!
Bought is to buy. Brought is to bring.0 -
If you want quirky and cool, the new Honda CRZ is a belter and really nice to drive.

Yes it's a total shame they stopped making them. Mine has been a total workhorse, but the jobs that need doing will cost quite a bit in labour & that's the problem.
I have to decide whether it's worth paying out all the labour costs or get another car.0 -
just came on here to ask the same question, my little mg went kaput on the dual carriageway today, pourign down with rain and i jsut dont think it worth me keep gettign it repaired. Was looking at lease agreements as alot of people at work have renaults here on 3yr deals and i quite like the sound of that. Just looked at car loans too and to see what could be done for about 10k. ideally i want to spend under 250k a month and quite like the focus or a golf that sort of sized car.Listen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!0

I'm looking into getting a lease car through my company at the moment. Fully insured, taxed & serviced BMW 1 series is about £300 a month.0

Stolt, what MG were you driving? I've been looking at the MG TF. Seems that second hand are reasonably priced. Just never had an MG before, so am unsure what they are like to drive ect.0

Stay away from the 1.8 K-Series engines, they eat head gaskets! :rotfl:0
