Hi ms01ma,
I was planning to buy instore, but as it's not yet available, we'll have to rethink...looking at a non-UK Dell machine now.
Inspiron 6400 with 1.8GHz dual core processor, 1GB RAM, 120GB HDD, 15.4" XGA screen and dual-layer DVD-writer is currently HK$6999 (£480). I shall be keeping an eye out for Dell HK misprices over the next 2 weeks :rotfl:0 -
Thanks rdwarr, also ordered one hoping it will be the spec as suggested. If not it can always be returned. Went through Topcashback for 4% cashback so £384 would be a great price.0

what would be wrong with this screen?0
-
they're likely to be talking about the maximum resolution of the screen, not so much the quality of the picture etc.
here's some typical screens and resolutions,
800x600 (SVGA) 12"
1024x768 (XGA) 12", 13.3", 14", 15"
1280x1024 (SXGA) - uncommon size 14", 15", 15.7"
1400x1050 (SXGA+) 14", 15"
1600x1200 (UXGA) 14", 15", 16"
1600x1200 (UXGA+ / Enhanced UXGA - same size, brighter screen) 15"
those are standard 4:3 displays
this laptop has a 15.4" widescreen display (WXGA 1280x768).
for standard web browsing and office apps this is a fine screen. For someone using Excel extensively, AutoCAD etc. being able to display more (i.e. everything is smaller) on screen is a real benefit but it comes at a price.0 -
Just had a phone call from customer service to arrange delivery, they will not have any stock until the 18/09/2006 and will be sorting the allocations out then. They also said they would be able to deliver the laptop on Thursday. I then asked about the spec to which they could not find any, they then placed me on hold and went to see if they could find it, then the line went dead. Waiting for a return call fingures crossed

Rang them to check my order was still gong through, it is and they still can not provide the spec. But they did say if its not what I was expecting then it can be easily returned (I have not got a beer gut, its a fuel tank for a love machine):eek:0
