I purchased a pair of trainers from SportsDirect last week for my daughters 8th birthday. The young man said he would knock 10% off as one of the shoes had been on display but there wasnt anything wrong with it..I was rather pleased and thanked him..However at home they were too small so 3days later i returned for an exchange only to be told that i couldnt as they had been reduced so effectivly sold as seen and that i was told this when i bought them...I WAS NOT advised of this otherwise i wouldnt have bought them. Also a friend now tells me that they usually write on the box &/or receipt that item is non-return/refundable..This wasnt done either..I emailed SD who replied telling me i wasnt entitled to exchange as reduced item,i am currently trying to argue my point in that i have no written notification of this on my product so i should be entitled to exchange....am i fighting a losing battle?..any helpfull advice wud be grateflly recieved..Thanks:D

Unfortunately AFAIK you are relying on the stores goodwill here as the SOGA doesnt cover returns due to being the wrong size.
As such perhaps write them a nice letter (after all you are asking them to do something you're not really entitled to) and thank them for making you aware of their policy, however due to circumstances and that they were a gift, could they possible make an exception this time and change the size of the item - allowing you to pay any difference. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
Do SportsDirect give refunds/exchanges on anything? I didn't think they did and had signs to this effect all over the store.
By law they only need refund on faulty goods - of which shoes not fitting would not constitute. If you search for SD on the forums you'll find they are a complete pain to deal with even with faulty goods so you maybe on to a hiding for nothing. Be polite but firm and hopefully you should get somewhere.
Good luck.Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
Unfortunately fflower I don't think the law is on your side. The only argument you could go down is the road of customer care, but I think they are a bit of a crappy company for that. I had a bit of a nightmare trying to get a full refund after ordering a pair of trainers off their website, which were not as described in that they advertised them as having leather uppers when they were in fact synthetic.
Their customer service phone line was almost impossible to find and the emails they sent were like unpersonal automated ones.
Anyway after quoting the Sales of goods act because they were not as described I eventually got my return postage costs refunded.
Just be warned they have poor customer service.0 -

Escalate and complain to Dave Forsey, Sports Direct Chief Executive via sending him an email at Dave.Forsey@sportsdirect.com.
Good luck and hope this helps.:)
Don't, go via customer service and up the "chain of command" that way.
Seriously why are almost all of your posts advising this?0 -

Sirmarcus, have you not realised yet than an email is the easiest thing to ignore. These people that you are advising members to email will simply hit the delete button and move on to the next email.
At least with registered snail mail other people will have seen the letter before it gets to the person in question and royal mail will confirm it's delivery. You don't even have to click in 'send receipt' for an email receipt request.
Have to agree with others, it's getting very boring now and you are looking quite a plank.
As for this particular thread, sports direct have done nothing wrong and I think you'll find the OP will get a reply saying 'sorry it's out policy and perfectly acceptable'.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
