Thanks Missile, yes i've bitten my tongue a few times about the leaving the scene thing. I'm going to go over there a bit later and make sure he gets the quote by the end of this week or i'll just say i'm going through the insurance as this has gone on for ages now. I want my car fixed. He actually asked me if he could borrow my car to take it to a garage. I think he's proven his driving abilities are not adequate for that, thank you.

OK, so he's getting his friend to do it (who does run a garage), he's going to give me a courtesy car. I just don't know what to do. He also keeps saying "if we get the insurance involved you'll get in trouble for parking illegally".

    Arrrg, i'm scared of him

Where you parked is irrelevant, he hit a stationary car, his fault.

You run the risk of getting a parking ticket, you dont expect someone to crash into your car.

Parking on double yellow lines doesnt affect your insurance.
I all have learnt is from others on many sites.
    Seek legal help if unsure.
Dont pay Private Parking tickets - they are mere invoices.

I would not discuss it with him anymore. Call your insurers and let them sort it. I hope you have taken pictures and have a witness to his admission of guilt?

The police will not be interested that you were parked on double yellows, but they will certainly warn him off if you tell them he is intimidating you. If he is then I would have no hesitation in calling the police and let it slip that he left the scene without reporting.

Just spoke to my insurers. They basically said what you said. He said they're not interested where i was parked, even if i'd been blocking his drive it doesn't give him the right to drive straight into my car.

At worst you would get a parking ticket!

Just give your insurance company the details and let them sort it.I had something similar many years ago.The other driver was insured but tried to insist his friend mended my car.I refused and his insurance paid eventually. Why should you let his mate do a cut price repair on your car.
If you find him threatening or patronising either refuse to talk to him or insist your boyfriend is with you whenever he speaks to you.

Ha ha, My boyfriend doesn't really look particularly threatening. Might get my dad round to have a chat. :)

He just is really insistant and whenever he comes over to tell me something I get tongue tied and don't know how to react. I just mentioned him leaving the scene and he said that he'd tried to talk to me but i drove off, not true as I saw him looking at me and asked if he was ok, he replied "yup" and wandered off as he obviously saw i hadn't noticed the damage. The following day he said that he was embarassed so hadn't said anything.

Will give the insurance people his details I think, i'm just worried about how he might be grumpo/scary with me.

If its a newish car and/or in good nick, you might like to choose your own quality repairer rather than the insurers as they can be high volume, variable quality operations.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

Ya, the second quote I got was that. I'm thinking of going with them, although actually their quote was higher than the insurance people's one. Maybe I'll get a third.

I'm not going to go with his mate, he's given me no paperwork, no quotes, i don't know what work he's planning on doing or what (if any) guarantees he's planning on giving me.
