I was mistaken, I took the Credit Card charge instead of debit card.

Debit Card charge is still 70p per person per flight SEGMENT, so on a return flight you pay £1.40 per person.

Credit card is £1.75 per person per segment.

Where are you getting the 70p from?

It was 40p each flight last time, and was so when booked recently and its still is 40p each way. A segment is simply a flight...

Anyway, the point being if you’re going to book one flight per year, it’s hardly worth the hassle of 80p. Getting bank statements, changing details etc etc

    Do a called cost/benefit analysis! ;)

The figures I quoted come from Rynair's Terms & Conditions on their website.

See what you are saying about it not being worth it, but I currently have an Electron card anyway :)

Going to move my account with Clydesdale Bank to Nationwide. Not sure whether to move from Bank of Scotland to Lloyds so I can ditch Visa Electron. (Advantages such as avoiding surcharges when booking flights etc make me want to keep Electron)

Hmm... old thread but I've finally done this.

Nationwide are superb, can't fault their customer service at all and their online banking facilities are great.

Keeping my accounts with HBOS though, having just opened an account with Lloyds TSB I found the service in my branch absolutely terrible. One woman was convinced and trying to convince me that it is Visa Electron that comes with this account........ I have the 2in1 Visa Debit card sitting in front of me now.

Not to mention the stupidly long waits for them to do anything, the fastest bit about the application has been them sending my card which came earlier than I was told it would.

As for getting a cheque book being dependant on income etc, it says in the brochure that you can request a cheque book at any time :) (Since there is no guarantee card, that will be why they are willing to give a cheque book, just like Nationwide did on my FlexAccount.)

I won't be keeping a lot of money with Lloyds, just using it for purchases where Electron is not accepted. Don't think I could stand the awful customer service (although it is marginally better than Clydesdale Bank).

Overall, I'd steer clear of Lloyds TSB unless you really require the debit card (like I do), there is far better alternatives out there.
