Lloyds TSB Current account experience! 16-17 Year olds

So tomorow at 11 i open the account.. I'll tell everyone how i get on!0

We have accounts (between personal and business) with Lloyds, HSBC, Barclays, Halifax, A & L, Portman and the most professional of them all is Lloyds imho.
I opened the first account with them age 17 and have been with them 20 years, they offer the cleanest (no catches) accounts with some of the most competitive interest bearing accounts. Their regular saver has the least amont of clauses of any of the banks or societies.
Lloyds online banking i think is the most user friendly. Their counter service is second to none. Long may it continue.
The only thing that lets them down is the interest rates on their business accounts, 1/2 that of the A & L.0 -
Where can i start....
I was around an hour late for my appointment go in say sorry told to wait by the next to the door which led up stairs. Erm quite angry the the lady behind the desk refered to me as James.. I'm a customer, not your friend or relative.
So anyway, wait there someone goes before me fine she had an appointment after me fine. But then the lady came up to me and basicly spoke to me as a small child. I was !!!!!! off from that but hey. The manager comes down. Very freindly, opened my account and manged to get me a Cheque book which isn't always available with the Under 19's account. But hey i am looking forward to my 2 in 1 Visa
:D:D:D:D:D (I plan to use this as proof of being over 18 hush hush
)
But yeah i would give them an 8/10 for service and a 10/10 for the products them offer for under 18s!
So if your 16 + and in the void of banking i would say go with Lloyds!
Oh btw guys. There is no control on the Visa. Aka I can go overdrawn.

What did you need to do to get a cheque book?
Might be opening an account with Lloyds soon

A regular income.. Well thats what this guy said. Only Visa electron has that bar. But remember this is for over 16's only. 15 or younger you can only have a cashcard. ATM use only.
I saw the Dual card the other day, looks just like the normal debit card. Even has that strange V on it for Visa lol So yeah good stuff. Infact VISA debit is better than Switch. But why don't other banks follow suite? If Lloyds offered a little gift and an advertising campaign saying they offer Visa for over 16s they would have thousands moving over!0 -
Ah okay. Looks like I wouldn't get a cheque book then.
Going to move my account with Clydesdale Bank to Nationwide. Not sure whether to move from Bank of Scotland to Lloyds so I can ditch Visa Electron. (Advantages such as avoiding surcharges when booking flights etc make me want to keep Electron)0 -

Exactly! I wish this stuff was available 3 years ago - I had to put up with worse-than-rubbish service from HSBC to get a Switch card when I was 16...
Incidentally, how is a Visa debit card any better than a Switch/Maestro card when both do pretty much the same thing?
P.S. Good luck trying to use the Visa card to pass yourself as 18...
I tried that loads of times and it never worked
(maybe it was me and not the card, lol) 0 -

Visa have a chargeback policy on their debit cards (Electron too!) meaning if you are a victim of fraud online, a company goes bust, etc etc, you can get your issuing bank to issue a chargeback. (Like with a Credit Card, but without the > £100 thing)
Switch/Maestro do not do this, it is just like paying with cash.0 -
I wouldn't rely on the Visa chargeback regime on debit cards including electron.
As I understand it they (Banks) will only intervene in extreme cases, such as companies going bust and not delivering goods. The rest of the time they dont get involved.
With a credit card, they will normally intervene on many cases, even those under the £100.
So, I'd always use a credit card as much as possible.
Any protection from a debit card, either Visa/Maestro based, should only be considered as extra
P.S Nationwide only give ATM cards to under 18's.
Also, be aware Lloyds charge £1 for any purchases not in pounds, plus 2.75%, HBOS charge £1.50 plus 2.75%
The electron will save about 80p/£1 per flight, I wouldnt bother keeping it unless you use it alot!
Saying all that, I still think the LTSB account is still the best 16/19 account
