Tesco Price Increases

Is it me being stingy or have Tesco prices subtly increased. Boringly we buy similar iems each week, yesterday I noticed 20p here 10p there etc over quite a few items. The wine offer was 3 for £10 now 3 for £12, this changed during July. Has something external caused this or is the new Tesco promtion on Voucher Exchanges costing us all dear. I notice too that our Airmiles are being reduced as warned by Martin recently to 50 miles per £2,50 voucher- was 60. Although they do claim that as they are still doubling points it is still good value- but at what cost? Higher prices on our shopping? Certainly I will stop being complacent and shop around a little more, store loyalty is not so good or valued after all.

I believe you are right.
I have noticed it more and more in my local Tesco.
Maryland cookies now 99p per packet and a small tin of potatos 74p!!!!! Absolute daylight robbery.
I will be going to Lidl and Aldi more often from now on!!(c) Broke in Yorkshire. ( there are worse places )
Those that matter don't mind and those that mind don't matter!0 -
Tesco's is a business like any other and make money, if they sold food at a loss they wouldnt make much money at all, things go up in price which is normall, re the wine amybe there was certain weather conditions that affected the crop of grapes which meant there wasnt as much as there would be0

Their prices on Pimms amuse me, they had their 1l bottles on special offer at £15 but the 700cl were on at "normal" price at £10 a couple of weeks ago. (If you hard of thinking it means it cheaper per overall litre to buy the £10 bottle).
When I went in a week later they had a special offer on the 1l bottle for £16 and had put the 700cl to £12.
You have be very careful with the Tesco special offers...does anyone remember when they did the half price offer on five different fruit / vegetables per week a few years ago, but were caught out doubling the prices of the same items the week before they reduced them...0 -
One of the (many) reasons I now shop at Waitrose rather than Tesco. Transparent pricing, simple - honest! - offers, virtually no difficulty navigating the store compared to the rush-hour rabble that go to Tesco, and these days, virtually no difference in price.

I like tesco's confusing pricing changes and special (or not) offers. It means tesco take all their profit out of those who get confused by the maths and buy the expensive options whereas I can work out the most cost efficient products to buy.0

I began to notice before tesco put things on 1/2 price offer they would put the prices up in the preeceeding weeks and then advertise half price or whatever.
Awful pricing ethics thinking consumers would not notice
So I voted with my feet and purse and now shop at Morrisons and have probably saved £30 per week - no joke!! :T0 -
Tesco are a buisness and are there to make money if people are willing to pay those prices then they will sell them at that price0

I've definitely noticed a price increase on a range of items - example one week anti-bacterial spray was £.90p and the next week in our store had gone up to £1.20! I know they need to make a profit but thats a 33% increase.0

Yes and I bet you find in a couple of weeks it will magically be on offer!!0 -
Oh but don't forget they lower lots of prices every week just unfortunately whilst lowering the price of champagne they put the price of butter up a few pence to counteract it !0
