Quidco offer £50 cash back on Sainsburys insurance .i discovered a quote via quidco was £180, but £130 when I went to JS directly. It would appear that they overcharge and then simply refund the difference. The delayed rebate perhaps helps them earn interest on cash-balances.Am I being cynical -please put me right if you know how to get a fair quote AND a Quidco rebate.

When you get a quote, JS won't know if you are going through Quidco or not, so this magic £50 is because you have changed something in your quote, not because of Quidco.

theres been a suspicion that the links from affiliate sites ( ie :-the middle man between Quidco and the retailer) do come out higher but not sure if anyones proved that 100%

Of course it knows - how else would Quidco get the £50?

I've seen it more and more now where the quote is higher through Quidco than if you cleared your cookes and did the quote directly.

Quidco just put a tracking cookie. How would Sainsburys know that you have a tracking cookie? It's quidco that is tracking you, not Sainsburys. I see your point about Quidco getting the £50 hm.

On a side note if this is the case (that Sainsburys are tracking quico tracking cookies) then it's not Quidco's fault, it's Sainsburys.

I did my car insurance through swinton, went through all the comaprison websites and also the site direct and once I had found the best price, I then went through quidco and the price was the same.

from what i have found is always make sure ALL the details are the same as sometimes one little thing cna make a big difference to the price

Did you clear your cookies first? Or use a different browser?

If you haven't you will still get the same quote.

The insurer knows the referall has come from an affiliate marketing network.
The insurer pays the affiliate who then pays quidco who then pay you.
If you check your cookies after using quidco to make a purchase you will see several.
One from quidco at least one from the affiliate and at least one from the vendor.

I got a quote for insurance from Co-operative without going through Quidco. Once I was ready to accept it I not only cleared cookies, I used a different browser. The quote was exactly the same price.
