If you notice HULA GROOVE REVIEW only give one day to pay so thats not exactly giving anyone a chance to sort a problem out.

I think that's actually part of the scam as some people will panic at the thought of being taken to court and will cough up.

Basically they are giving very little thinking or acting time. i.e very little time to gather legal evidence on your behalf.

that's not a lot of time Hula Groove Reviews are giving people to sort things out :(

I personally think this is unfair - at the end of the day OP has been given the advice about what to do. If the company want to go to Court then they can. OP can defend it.

Bad mouthing the company - rightly or wrongly - is not the correct way to resolve the dispute and will not do the OP any credit at trial.

Facebook Page for them here, maybe OP should post her experience on their discussion wall?

Also interesting is a comment on a web design company's testimonial page that says:
    Hula Groove
"Since we made the Hula Groove site live we have had 1200 unique visitors, 50 serious booking enquiries and 3 confirmed booking. That's in just 5 days! We have also had an incredible amount of praise and positive feedback about the site. Altogether a big success. Well done and many thanks!" - Danny Richman

Wonder if those 50 serious booking enquiries got similar treatment?

Having read this thread about hula groove, hula grovve, hulla groove or whatever they are called, i'd suggest that if the OP had not paid anything, then no enforceable contract had been formed.

The terms seem to suggest that the booking is not confirmed by hulla grovve until payment is received of 25% deposit. In which case they can still refuse the booking. However they claim the email confirmation binds the OP. By having an unbalanced arrangement, this would not be enforceable, and the terms which hukla groove could use would become the valid ones i.e in that as huler grooove could still have cancelled, so could the OP.

I would agree with you had the band been acting in a professional manner.

And to be fair to the OP, he wasnt actually going to name them. There was no ill intent on his part. Technically its my fault.

The OP can hardly be held accountable for the actions of people on a anonymous forum. He only came here to seek advice - quite rightly - after unfair demands from a "professional" band. And in light of this, i am of the opinion that it should be highlighted to warn others - not just for HG, but for anyone booking a band who might try and employ the same scare tactics.

No one is bad mouthing them they are just pointing out the ridiculous of Hula grooves actions. Even if they did get bad mouthed they only have themselves to blame.

All this thread does is help inform those who are considering booking them. It's up to anyone reading this to decide if they think threatening to take someone to court or sending letters to scare people into paying an unenforceable and not legally binding terms and conditions is a moral and good way to act.

People name companies all over MSE for there bad service why do you believe this band shouldn't be named. They are acting in a very heavy handed and dodgy way.

Also to say this thread would not do the OP any harm in court. Firstly it wont go to court and even if it did all the OP has done in this thread is state the facts.
  • Im absolutely amazed when reading the T&Cs for this so called professional band. They state they must be supplied with a hot meal for each band member, they will not accept buffet food or 15.00 per head will be charged.
Also if they cannot break down their equipment at a certain time they will charge hundreds extra.
I was in professional bands/acts for many years (about 12) and making do with a stale ginsters pasty from the service station was all part of the evening. As regards to getting your equipment down and getting home, every night was different and it was all part of the gigging business I'm afraid.
We worked everything from weddings, nightclubs to large marquee venues for military occasions.
    Bloody Prima donnas!

  • At the end of the day it's well known with regards to weddings people get panicky and may well do things that were not such a good idea after some consideration.

Was the OP pressurised into making a booking, given the old if you don't book today doomsday scenario etc.

What it doesn't give is the right for some company to make ridiculous demands for money using bully boy scare tactics.
Just because someone has 'agreed' to a companies T&C's does not necessarily make tham legally binding just because the company tells you so.

And also unlimited soft drinks at the consumers expense!

I thought those T&C's were laughable too.

So not only do you have to pay their probably rather expensive fee in the first place but they fleece you for loads of extra cash as well. :rotfl:
