I just got an email from Amazon, they will be taking preorders from Tuesday 21st November but tells you to be quick as they are in very short supply.

Get ready for a revolution in video gaming--Nintendo Wii is coming!
If you're into gaming as much as we are, then December 8, 2006 will no doubt be etched into your brain as the day that Nintendo launches their Wii console in the UK.

Well, we've got another date for you: Tuesday, November 21, 2006. This is the day Amazon.co.uk will start taking pre-orders for the Wii .

We've put together an FAQ to answer any questions you may have about pre-ordering your Nintendo Wii from Amazon.co.uk.

When will I be able to pre-order my Wii console?

From Tuesday, November 21, 2006. Order early, because the Wii console will be in very short supply.

We're working closely with Nintendo to maximise the number of consoles we'll have for launch, and will stop taking preorders once we've pre-sold all the consoles Nintendo allocate to us for release day. We won't take pre-orders for more consoles than we can supply for launch day.

    If I pre-order a Wii from Amazon.co.uk, will I get it on launch day (December 8, 2006)?

UK customers: if you choose First Class delivery, your console should be dispatched in time for delivery on December 8. We will work closely with our delivery partners to ensure, as far as possible, delivery by December 8. However, this cannot be guaranteed as some delays may occur which are outside our control.

If you choose Free Super Saver Delivery, your console will be delivered 2-5 business days later than December 8.

International customers: we will work closely with our delivery partners to ensure, as far as possible, delivery by December 8. However, this cannot be guaranteed as some delays may occur which are outside our control.

Please note that a signature will be required for delivery of your Wii.

What can I do to ensure I get my Wii as quickly as possible?

Please check that your credit/debit card details are correct and up to date and that your card doesn't expire before December 2006, as we only charge your card when we start shipping your items.

How many Wii consoles can I order?

We're limiting orders to one per customer to ensure that as many of our customers as possible can enjoy a Wii console this Christmas.

What happens when Amazon.co.uk sell out?

We'll stop taking preorders once we've sold out of our pre-order stock. If you're not lucky enough to get hold of a Wii in our initial pre-order window, sign up to receive email notification of when the console becomes available again by using the button on the top right of the Nintendo Wii product detail page. We'll email you when we get more stock in.

I've ordered Wii games and accessories too - when will these arrive?

Wii games and accessories will be dispatched separately from the console. Most launch titles should also be dispatched in time for delivery on December 8. Please check the estimated delivery date on the order summary page for any games and accessories ordered, and check that you have selected the appropriate shipping option - make sure your order doesn’t contain any items which are not in stock or which are released after December 8, 2006 (you can change your delivery preferences to have items dispatched as they become available). See the Wii launch line-up.

I got the E mail about pre-ordering from Amazon too, no mention of the price though. I don't know whether to wait and try there or pre-order from Currys now with 10% discount.
  • I have been told this info now by a few people, Game have been given 80% of the consoles coming into the UK ( do not like the customer service at game but have pre ordered here as I think I will get one), so if you are ordering through Currys etc. then get in early as they will not be getting much, some companies are getting none like Play.com.
  • I was desperate to get one of these. I went a game shop by me, i know the manager. He has just came back from a convention about the wii. His report was not good. He said the controller had a very slow respond time and wasn't overly impressed. I'm going to bide my time and see what the general consensus is.

Well if this is true we should be ok as this is the reason we pre-ordered from Game as we thought there would be more of a chance in getting one:)

Really? I've spoken to my manager, and a local concession store manager, who both enjoyed teh swiftness of the controller, and its playable when completely drunk and hungover with ease. The Wii's been at the Good Food Show, London until the end of tomorrow, was going to go myself, but i'm staying away from underground trains - a 50 mins trip here and back to stratford took me 3 hours yesterday, but a close friend went who was personally shocked by how fast the controller was - he expected a delay, and he's a Nintendo fanatic!

Game are selling bundles only aren't they? Is it still possible to return the games in the bundle and keep the console?
