Everything was £X.99p. The bloke who served, Bob, would never give the penny change. It never used to bother me, but one day, after giving him the money, I stood at the counter with my hand held out right in front of his nose. Quick as a flash, he reached into the till and pulled out a 2p. "Got change?" he said. Obviously I didn't, but was laughing so much at his cheek I let him get away with it. :rotfl:
So you got to know him on first name terms but you only went in there occassionaly?

Good for you, Bells&whistles! I did the same with British Gas when I switched and they sent me a statement showing that I was £4 in credit. After a couple of weeks I rang them and asked where the cheque was for the balance and some cheeky young pup told me that they don't bother for such a small amount. "Ah, but you'd chase me to the ends of the earth if I owed it to you", I pointed out. He agreed that that was true, but I still had to chase him to send me the cheque.
I'm surprised at Tesco, though, as when I was a teenager, any of us with Saturday jobs in supermarkets had to make up any shortfall in the till receipts out of our wages at the end of the day.Debt at highest: £6,290.72 (14.2.1999)

I asked for a £1 credit back from Barclaycard....and they did pay it actually without quibble. I was most surprised.
But as Moozie said, it's not the amount it's the principle.Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.

Let's get this straight, it's not a liberty, it's not cheek, it's theft. Report it.0

Grrrr!!! Like others, this really does annoy me!
So it came to £2.56, she didn't give change, and her response was "it's only 4p". I wonder if you had paid her £2.52, and attempted to leave the shop with your goods, whether she, the store manager, or perhaps even security, would have taken the same view then?
I very much doubt it.0 -
Totally agree with everybody else - it is appalling  and you should definitely complain to Tesco. I also think its a good idea to ask in the letter whether they would be so lenient if you had only offered £2.52
, as many others have pointed out already - I think that more than gets the point across!;)
Of course, I'm beginning to understand even more clearly now how Mr T gets his ever increasing profits...:p If every cashier in every Tesco's store across the country made "just 4p" a day in this manner, the amount they raked in between them would certainly clear my debt pretty quickly (and probably most of the debts on this board!!! ).

Definitely write! Or even better ring! I just rang Sainsbury's to complain about having to ask many times to get the 50p refunded, and they agreed it was out of line. The store manager just rang me to apologise and said to come in and see him on Monday and he'd have some vouchers for me. Yay!0

well done climbgirl you never get anything if you don't try and seeing as they have robbed you numerous times you deserve something.
back to the cashier by god if it was her on the other side of the till i bet she would be screaming blue murder not sarcastly saying "it's only 4p".Light Bulb Moment 1st January '06-£82,000
