  • I always pay with a card and then stand there and check the receipt.

I don't care who gets cross. The number of times I've found something they have entered wrongly...

  • I'd put a complaint in to Tesco! That is an absolute liberty! That is your money that you work bloody hard to earn. If that cashier did that to say 500 customers a day she could be making a dodgy £20 a day!

I agree entirely. I would have been demanding to see her manager there and then - very loudly (even more loudly if the cafe was packed - nothing like an audience to get things put right quickly!!)

OMG I agree with everyone else. 4p or £40 it's YOUR money. To assume that as it is a low amount they wouldn't give you change is preposterous. I think a complaint is definitely in order.

When I was a student, I occasionally used to visit the local kebab shop (surprisingly ).

Everything was £X.99p. The bloke who served, Bob, would never give the penny change. It never used to bother me, but one day, after giving him the money, I stood at the counter with my hand held out right in front of his nose. Quick as a flash, he reached into the till and pulled out a 2p. "Got change?" he said. Obviously I didn't, but was laughing so much at his cheek I let him get away with it. :rotfl:
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.
