Who cares whether the source is un-ethical
I do and so should everyone.
    You enjoy your KFC though.
    Happy chappy
  • I visited the KFC restaurant in Sutton in Ashfield. Ordered the meal that comes wrapped in a thin pancake type thing. It was scorched so I asked for it to be replaced. When the replacemt came I broke it in half as I was going to share it with a friend (trying out a new product for first time) My fingers were covered in something which could only have been saliva! Looked and felt like it anyway.Definitely not sauce or mayonnaise. Complained to manageress who said her staff had ALL been working there for 5 years (yeah right) and wouldn't do such a thing. Complained to YUM.com who own franchise and got nowhere. Got local council to visit restaurant to check it out - but without product to test - results were inconclusive.

However - I will NEVER eat at any KFC restaurant again. I like the taste but the experience has been completely spoiled for me.
Don't grow up. Its a trap!

    Peace, love and labradors!

The poor chickens who endure a life worse than living death certainly care. If it's that bad - STOP GOING.
Make your own toxic fatty foodstuffs from ethical sources. That would be moneysaving.

Are the chickens used by KFC treated worse than chickens generally (for example supermarket bought chicken)?
    I wasn't aware of this.

Up until fairly recently (a few decades ago) chicken was very expensive and something as basic as a chicken sandwich was deemed to be almost a luxury meal. Whether we like it or not, it's only through battery chicken farming that we are able to appreciate chicken as an every day value meal.

KFC's suppliers are probably no different to any others and the OP's issue is about something entirely different...one of retail inconsistency.
  • Backto the OP's question

Yes I have expereinced this so now I go to Nando's!!!;)

Nicer chicken, nicer staff and far better service!!

I like Nando's too - only our nearest is Milton Keynes.... and they don't do a bargain bucket!!

They've cut the chicken strips in the kids meals from 3 to 2, and the ice creams are getting smaller too! They've moved the bottom up inside the cup so it looks the same but contains much less - my 4 year old can comfortably finish his own now :-(
And definitely no chickens suffering to make that.....or are we going to get onto milking cows now....
BTW, I have been to a battery chicken farm (actually one that supplies KFC, albeit a few years ago) and still eat KFC. But then I still eat pork, ham and sausages after visiting a pig farm too. Definitely not a veggie wannabe!!
  • We used to eat at KFC's but noticed a decrease in portion size - but no decrease in prices.

We now go to a franchise known as The Chicken Cottage. Quality is much better - and you can specify the pieces of chicken you want (eg no drumsticks etc)
  • even ethically produced meat is plucked from life early. And just think of all those organic veggies that are ripped from the ground at a tender age, the terror they must endure seeing their family ripped from the manure covered soil ;)

p.s. yes KFC is seeming to be getting tighter with their chicken
