I read martin's advice about applying for a second Esta before the fee comes in, but I am going to the USa at the end of September.
There is no way I am going to risk any complication caused by an apparent 'double application'.
Yesterday I did the form for a friend who has not have a computer. Her passport runs just over the 10 years - so 'Esta pending'.
It's a pain - they were supposedly sorting that glich out.Member #14 of SKI-ers club
Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.
(Pity they are mangled by this autocorrect!)0 -

There shouldn't be any risk around a double application...the help section on the ESTA website says:
Due to security/privacy concerns, we are unable to provide ESTA application numbers to people who have lost or misplaced them. If you lost, misplaced, or forgot your application number, you will have to re-apply for in order to get another one. Your old application number will be automatically cancelled and a new one will be generated for you.
Though I can understand a bit of paranoia with a trip coming up that close and a few people getting pending messages lately.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

No double application. The second one will automatically cancel the first one.
The over 10 years passport glitch was sorted out. Before it was sorted you couldn't complete the application as it wouldn't accept the dates, which is does now.0 -
Have you seen that happen.
I have seen people who have made mistakes on their green form being allowed to correct it/redo it at the desk, both at LAS and LAX
It's not exactly a complex form to fill out.
Fill it out on the plane on the way over (you should get given it at check in) and if you make a mistake as the hostess for another form.
Imagine countries making it that little bit harder to get in... shame that.0 -
As soon as I heard they may start charging I got my OH to apply for a renewed passport (it expired in Jan 09) we travel to florida in November. We just hope his renewed passport arrives in time to apply. I think I'l renew my ESTA too.:kisses2: Got married September 2011:smileyhea

I agree, my reply was a question for Emma, as I hadnt seen anyone sent to the back of the queue in all the times I have been to the US0 -
you advise to apply now, even though not travelling...have just had a look at the first page and it requires flight details, address in us etc. etc.
can't see how it would accept an application without this?
has anyone succeeded yet?0 -

They are not mandatory and if they were you could just make them up. There's nothing to stop you changing your mind about a trip0
