Only just found out about the conlibs supporting this.
Which car would be best? I am thinking a Nissan Leaf for about 15K now?
Or a plug in Toyota or Honda? Ideas?

Nissan website says the Leaf is £24k after the £5k incentive. Gonna take a hell of a long time to recoup the extra upfront costs over a petrol equivalent. And the power to charge it probably isn't coming from wind farms.0

How about a Tesla??0

I didnt realise it was near 30K new?
What is the cheapest car that will qualify for 5K grant?0 -
They give with one hand and take with the other, doesn't VAT go up in January.0
-
Very few cars that qualify at the moment.
Mitsubishi i-Miev will.
Nissan Leaf will. Getting good reviews from the press. Though not suitable for everyone, limited range etc...
G-Whiz doesn't, as the govt counts it as a quadricycle, not a car.
Hybrids like the Toyota Prius and Honda Insight won't.
Hopefully this grant will encourage manufacturers to build more electric cars.0 -
£30k new wow. Most of us love to save money on transport cost but maybe 8 years later when these falls to £5k would I be able to afford it.0

Oh yes, the government trying to get people to move over to electric cars, as well as putting the costs of everything else up!
This will go the same way as the scrape-age grant went on cars, okay for the rich but the poorer will get poorer.
Now a lot of people can't afford a car because there are not enough cheap run a rounds about under £500 any more!
I won't be entertaining one!!0 -
Next year will we see cars that qualify for the 5K grant for around 15K? So you could get it for around 10?0
