Yeah, I don't really see the connection to the Stella Awards which is about stupid lawsuits/fake stupid lawsuits, there's no lawsuit here... All it is is speculation/concern based on newspaper reports of a possible change in certain CC terms.
I am just wondering if aj3001's dad has actually been informed by Northern Rock that he will be charged this fee, or if he's reacting to this speculation...DFW stats:

Reacting to speculation.
Just making an analogy between rumours, general talk or hearsay of doubtful accuracy and fact and how they can escalate through  circulation into exaggerations and distortions of fact.To be happy you need to make someone happy.0 -
My dad did have a letter telling him they will start charging, it is for an old Northern Rock card, which was taken over by Co-op bank a while ago, I will scan the letter if I get a chance later but I can assure you this IS happening, it will be £2 a month0

They are trying to make him cancel the card ,it is an old CC account, they have taken over and they want it off their systems,it appears as if he has done what they wanted. No notification on CO-OP site, this is a personal situation between your Dad and CO-OP.aj3001 wrote:My dad did have a letter telling him they will start charging, it is for an old Northern Rock card, which was taken over by Co-op bank a while ago, I will scan the letter if I get a chance later but I can assure you this IS happening, it will be £2 a monthTo be happy you need to make someone happy.0 -

Talk about speculation! You know his dad then
? How can you say it's a personal situation then?
What a load of rubbish Kenshaz. Why won't you just accept it at face value and that it might be true instead of just rubbishing the idea. Anyone might think you're just being contrary for the sake of it

Whatever the merits of these particular cards, it is obvious that the banks are going to try make up the excessive fees profits somehow. Will certainly be worth keeping your eyes open for stuff like monthly charges (always looks a lot less than annual charges), increased interest rates, reduced interest-free period. Would guess that there will similar stuff on the way for current accounts as well if/when similar penalties go under the microscope.0

Considering the previous annual charges used to be around £10 a year or so.0
