That website is quite cunning with the McAfee mark, if you follow the link it all looks good and dandy, until you actually read the url properly....and also the branding doesn't say McAfee.

Just to add, the Babyliss Radiance are on offer again with Boots, half price at £44.99:

This works out better than the Argos offer as you get 176 Points!

I bought a pair for my wife from hair1direct - try the usual www at the beiginning and .co.uk at the end.
They are official stockists of GHD and salon owners. Their address is even listed on the website in Newport Pagnell.

    Best of luck

I had GHDs a while ago and had them for 5 years until they blew up (apparently it's quite common?!) so replaced them with the 'BaByliss 2088U Pro 230 Elegance Bronze Straightener' and they work just as well!

These were about £30 from Amazon as opposed to the £100+ I paid for the GHDs at a hairdressers!

I knowingly and willingly bought fakes thinking they would serve the same purpose as real GHDs. I got lucky because they did, so it wasn't an issue. Just goes to show that these things can pay off sometimes.

And undoubtedly supported child and/or slave labour together with organised crime in the process. Well done.

I would also be very wary of a company that has a hotmail email address as point of contact.

    Agreed !

Although its always easy after the occasion to be vigilant.....

Upon looking at the website in question , to the untrained eye it is all very professional looking.

From this i have though learned a very valuable lesson so something good has come from it all !

Never mind the fake GHDs going into flames - I had an authentic pair that spontaneously combusted a few years ago!

And only half my hair was straightened - I had to blow out the flames to get the rest done! :)

I think it was a known fault and GHD replaced them without question.

Me too! I hd 2 pairs blow up on me few yers back. Well I say blow up, it was more of a buzzing noise then puff of smoke.
I was devestated. I had Tina Turner hair until I could afford to replace them.
    Grrrrrrrr

Anyway I have the newer ones now and although they are good they don't even come close to the older ones.

Blowing up aside I want the old ones back!! :D

It isn't really being wise after the event. It is massively unprofessional looking.

As others have said - a hotmail address for complaints. No physical address provided.

I really wish people would figure out that if something is really cheap from this sort of website then it is going to be fake.

Sorry but on that point i will have to disagree.

i think that whoever created the website has actually done quite a good job in making it look realistic!
