Do you use ghd straighteners?

Options
Hi all.

Just wanted to offer you all a word of warning.

I know ladies (and some men too) love the ghd hair straighteners.

We all know just how expensive they are though so when i searched online for the cheapest price for a set for my daughter , i was pleased to find a site which said they had a "sale" on the ghd's . The set i wanted were 42% off retail price so i checked the website out and saw that they were what i thought was a uk company - as the price was in british pounds. I checked their certificate which stated that they were official stockists as recommended by GHD themselves.

The site was also protected by "McAfee" security.

However , after i had placed the order i discovered that the company is NOT base in the Uk , they are in fact based in CHINA!

Ghd also say that they have never been an "official stockist" of their products and to top it all the "McAfee security" is actually FAKE as well !

The moral of this warning is to inform you all that the site http://onsale-ghd.com

is a scam!

I have had the money taken from my account - i paid by debit card - and there is no answer to my emails to the company.

I also had to cancel my debit card .

be warned .

I know its not a solution but if you're still looking for straighteners for your daughter these are much cheaper http://www.dixons.co.uk/gbuk/nickyclarke-desired-salon-professional-straightener-03386772-pdt.html?srcid=867&xtor=AL-78 hair straighteners and are the best I've ever had- and thats after owning two pairs of GHD's- they straighten quicker and keep my hair in better condition. Plus they're half price at dixons.

I got replica GHDs from Ebay a few years ago because I thought they would be the same without the expensive brand name. Luckily, they served me well and didn't break until I stepped on them (doh), and by then I decided to spend a bit of money and go with the real deal. I was tempted a few times with stuff like this, but I thought I'd be better off just buying from GHD's official site.

When you say "replica" do you mean a set of straighteners with the same functions as ghd's or do you mean that you knowingly bought a set of fakes from ebay ?

I knowingly and willingly bought fakes thinking they would serve the same purpose as real GHDs. I got lucky because they did, so it wasn't an issue. Just goes to show that these things can pay off sometimes.

The official GHD website has a list of websites that are allowed to sell their products. Always check before you purchase! If it seems too good to be true it probably is.

I have used my GHDs twice, they are no better than my Babyliss pro 230s. And they were 4 times the price:eek:

Always check a website for an address. This website has none and no real contact list, no phone number either.

    ALways spells trouble

also, take this from their site.

doesnt quite sound right from a professional point of view does it?

The warnings signs were there and you'll find a spate of these website around Xmas. Xmas 2008 i was shopping around for GHD's for my partner.

I counted 6 potential fraudulent websites before actually coming across a genuine site selling me the GHD's
