SH- I like the idea of her having a bolero. I do like all the matching BHS stuff.

Had my hair cut yesterday- price has gone up again. Had a long natter about wedding and we're going to try out some styles with the tiara over Easter hols. Also met with vicar and went through the service. We chose the hymns but still need to choose reading and a reader and need to sort out getting banns read in our parish. Can't believe how much stuff there is to do!! I feel really nervous about it all at the moment and I'm not really sure why!

We treated ourselves to a meal out with a voucher last night.

Managed to transfer £2000 to our offset today which is about what I am aiming for. Now the progress rests on how OH has managed to do this month (we've had a few meals out which he takes care of). Quite happy with progress in Feb as I've also paid out for some wedding stuff and some material for sewing. Have also got money in the offset for the major wedding costs but am basically ignoring it in all my figures as it will be spent out again by the wedding. I think we should just about be able to cover the rest of the costs in within normal spending budget but we don't have honeymoon money set aside so we won't be able to put any money into savings for 1 month when that hits.

hi jellie - you are still doing amazingly well in my book! We sorted our wedding in less than 3 months but I must admit my caterers let me down on the day... I do think tho that wedding planning expands to fit the time available which isn't always a good thing - so try not to let it take over too much

Good progress there with the offset.

DD2's dress cost me £20 from BHS in the sale with free delivery. Her shoes were £7. DD1's dress was £120 but when I ordered it there was 15% off and free delivery, and I think her shoes were £17.50. I do have a very good seamstress in the family which helped with any alterations we needed to do, but still they were bargains and look and fit lovely.

Thanks SH. You're right as ever! I need to make a list of the essentials, work through it slowly and ignore anything that doesn't really matter much!!

Maybe they'll have a sale on when we go in the Easter hols!

    Position today
    Mortgage paid £2288686.72/£295 000 (2.5%) Interest paid £10 508.98 Offset accounts £25887.67 (9%)
    2011 target £0/ 32 000 more in offset taking it to £59 170.73

Somehow the money in our offset seems to be going down rather than up!! I think this is still the effect of everything we paid out last month. Hopefully once OH is paid this month things will improve again! With all the wedding costs I guess we're not likely to make that much progress for the next few months. I need to try a bit harder though!

Many thanks to Yukkibear for showing me how to work out interest payment. I think it is going to be the best motivation! Seeing the mortgage decrease very very slowly is a bit depressing but knowing that at the moment our offset account is saving us about £100 a month in interest is a big motivator.

Just playing with an offset calculator and if I'm correct then if we keep out offset at the current level we will have paid it off 2.5 years early. If we can increase the offset by £1000 a month which we should manage under normal circumstances (ie when wedding costs out of the way!) we'll decrease the term by 7 years and be mortgage neutral in about 11 years. To be mortgage neutral in 5 years (which we would love to manage) we'll have to add £3100 each month!!

£100 a month is a great motivator - 7 years would also be fab....

Keep your targets manageable - make sure you don't set yourself up to fail

We can all set really high targets - achieving them is another matter...
