Can someone clarify who gets the money for the exported electricity if you take up one of these "free" offers?
My understanding is the installer takes the FIT and money for electricity generated. Parts of this thread seem to differ.

That's it - spot on. All the houseowner gets is the reduction in electricity charges - a very small fraction of the total.
  • Not sure if this question is strictly allowed on this forum. If not I am sure someone will put me right.

Seeing that Joe Public could be making £800 pa, power companies may want "their share". They may have to retain the current feed in price per unit but is there anything stopping them restricting customers to say the standard tariff or standard tariff + n% ? Is there anything else to restrict swapping suppliers for a tariff that is cheaper for the use you have to pay for or are you committed to the one supplier for a number of years.

    thanks in advance

Has anyone heard of The Ideas Factory. I had an email off them saying if I invested £15000 for the goverment to install pannels on housing association roofs I would after 3 years get my 15k back and a profit of about £3600 guarenteed. Is this legit because I am seriously considering it?

Sorry if its been mentioned previously I havnt read every post on this thread.

    Thanks

Someone posted just that happening with NPower - see first post.

However if you read earlier in this thread, others have posted that they get FITs when on a cheap tariff.
  • Doh! Apologies for my lazy research. Thanks for being gentle with me.

Has anyone actually got any further than sending back the Google Earth map? After a few weeks of inactivity I rang them and they said they'd actually screwed up by rejecting my house suitability. They have undertaken to write to me with a contract but several weeks on and nothing yet? I'm assuming that best case scenario, they're inundated...but would be interested to hear if anyone has got any more news/progress....?

I have applied to both ISIS and Homesun some weeks ago - as yet nothing from either of them, despite property having perfect location and roof size....
Now that Tesco, Eon, M and S et al are getting onboard, the whole market place seens to be changing.....watch for reductions in installation costs?
