The Koi will be easy to rehome - Ebay is a good place to sell them.

I expect the woman is in a state of shock as the loss of a pet is very sad but seriously this is like some sort of morbid joke. Has she asked if you have a chest freezer to store the dog in in the meantime?

silly question, how do I post and pack a Koi? Do i put it in fairground bag , put it in a box marked fragile?

You could always use a Tesco bag for life :rotfl:.

No - you put on the ad that the buyer has to bring their own containers etc and collection only. There are specialist couriers but its expensive and I wouldn't trust them especially in the hot weather. Its very common practice if you look on the listings the fish are regularly sold.

Hmm, i think the pond is a non starter. I remember it has concrete underneath. The problem is the garden is so small and very limited (unless we lifted the patio slabs) the pond isnt overly deep, the dog may have to be more of a rockery than an immersion...

do you think they would object if I suggested the front garden? oh my word, this is just too much.

This is exactly the sort of thing I wish had happened to me to tell my grandchildren someday!

Lifting patio slabs is an option unless there's concrete under there already. Just make sure they dig a deep hole or you could end up with a bad smell. Actually that might be there plan . . . to knock the price down and argue that you'll never sell it to anyone else because of the horrible smell!

Nutters. You are supposed to destroy the pond at your expense? Tell them to cremate the dog. Then they do what they like with the ashes. After the place is actually theirs of course.

if the pulled out it wold worry me. They only offered 2 weeks ago.

What would be the point in them pulling out? They can hardly start looking for a house where the owners are amenable to a dead dog being buried in their garden before exchange of contracts!

I would politely decline. What will they want to do next? Store their possesions in your loft, park their car on your drive.....

Sorry to say it but I would expect problems with these buyers. To turn up with the dog and a pitch fork is unacceptable behaviour and shows they already consider the property to be theirs.

What happens it the purchase falls through? You will find them digging up your garden in the night to retrieve the corpse!

Yes it will have to be deep because of the smell and risk of them being dug up by foxes / maggots & flies etc or finding a skeleton a few years later when you want to plant some shrubs.

No no and no again. The freezer is the key. Get them to buy one, put the dog in it and bury it when they OWN THE HOUSE.

Best case scenario = you bury the dog and all goes to plan with the sale.

Worst case scenario = no pond, a dead dog in the garden and the sale falls through, owners turn up demanding dead dog back as prospective new buyers are looking around.

    Once again, NO!

The problem is they want to come tonight and i cant rid of the fish quick enough. I used to think that hoovering and polishing for a viewing was stressful enough.

    Buyer collects!

But seriously, why are you spending so much time and effort on such a clearly silly request. Push back - the logistics in burying a pet when they plan to move house is their problem.

There are pet graveyards/memorial places which mean they can pay there respects there wherever they choose to live.

A property seller who has very recently just accepted an offer on a property does not accommodate changes to it at the buyers whim! The buyer can change their mind, lose their job, lose the buyer for their own property. It's just such a dumb request.
