she was in tears when i called her to see where she planned on sticking the dog. I said i would call her back. Her hubby is working till 6pm and they wanted to pop round then.

I think i am going to have to destroy the fish.

They obviously loved their pet. If you tell them that you love your fish and wouldn't dream of destroying them (even if it's not true) I'm sure they would understand your need to rehome them.

It sounds as though they are thinking emotionally and not practically about the whole thing.

The Koi will be easy to rehome - Ebay is a good place to sell them.

I expect the woman is in a state of shock as the loss of a pet is very sad but seriously this is like some sort of morbid joke. Has she asked if you have a chest freezer to store the dog in in the meantime?

i didnt really look. all i saw was the fur poking out the top of the boot and ironically a tesco bag for life over its head.

OMG what a great story this is.....:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Still, if they love the dog that much they will go through with the sale.:D
  • Don't destroy your fish just because they've turned up with a dead dog. Just because the dog is dead and they want to move him in with you, doesn't mean you should kill all of your fish because they can't wait for you to find a new home for them. What area are you in out of interest? My dad keeps koi.

I can't believe this is true. If so - it is tragic and yet hugely amusing!! I am giggling at work, which is highly inappropriate. :)

If you haven't exchanged I wouldn't dream of it. They may well yet pull out for a million reasons, and then you end up with no pond, no koi, a dead dog and have to try and sell the house again!

It maybe finished the dog off, too.

Hmm, i think the pond is a non starter. I remember it has concrete underneath. The problem is the garden is so small and very limited (unless we lifted the patio slabs) the pond isnt overly deep, the dog may have to be more of a rockery than an immersion...

do you think they would object if I suggested the front garden? oh my word, this is just too much.

Just called them. They would like to bry him where the pond is at the moment. They said they were going to fill in the pond as they have a child. Problem is I keep Koi in it and I wasnt planning on taking them with me.

All seems a nightmare now. Yes the pond space would be ideal, but what do I do about the fish?

Find a Koi owners forum and offer the fish there (after exchange of contracts!).

I'm flabbergasted that a potential buyer of the property would turn up with the corpse of their pet expecting to bury it in someone else's property and expect them to do a bit of landscaping to accommodate it. It's not your problem.

Tell them to contact a vet to arrange the storage of the dog until they move into the property when they can do the work to drain and remove the pond.

You said before you only accepted the offer 2 weeks ago - you are not remotely close to completion. Have they even done a survey yet?! Have they even had an offer on their previous place?! Got a mortgage in principle?!

Bizarre to turn up at someone else's house with a corpse and shovel.
