Dodgy phone seller on eBay

He says he's got 'a' COA. And that both pictures were commisioned by the same company. Neither very specific.MyUserNamesTaken wrote:Well, if he's claiming to have a COA, he's now committing deception. Seeing as the original seller is a fine arts dealer, this could have a detrimental effect on his professional reputation, as he claims his is the original work. I wonder if the photos by the original seller are copyrighted? If so, that's a copyright infringement.
I wouldn't say this kid is on the right side of legal. In fact, there are quite a few grey issues here.
Perhaps I should have said just the right (from his point of view - not ours) side of prosecutable.0 -
I'm covering that right now...Moglex wrote:He says he's got 'a' COA. And that both pictures were commisioned by the same company. Neither very specific.

I've asked him a very direct question about the item he's selling. I've also asked about a COA, the company that has issued it if it has one and provenance. Let's see what he comes back with.
Incidentally, seeing as the pictures came from another seller's auctions, that seller's would be the company responsible for providing a COA. As that seller hasn't given permission for this dodgy git to use his photos, I doubt there is a COA from the company who "commissioned" the items, namely the original seller. That's still deception.
Yep, give him enough rope and he will hang himself. He's replied:As far as i know it is an original picasso, signed and dated the day he produced it. Both pieces are. I do have a coa for both pieces, i had both pieces at the same time. Both pieces were comissioned by abc arts. But b4 i had them they were propery of a swiss collector. And i had them due to his sad passing away. There is no reserve as i am willing to let them go for what ever the buyer decides to pay for them But they are fabulous 1 off picasso pieces. Kind regards, daniel.
I've now replied to him:Hi,
I'm rather confused now, as I see the same item was sold on Ebay on the 20th October by a fine arts dealer in London. His username is mdfinearts. I've messaged him and he says his item is the original. The images on his auction are exactly the same as yours, too.

OK, now see if you can get him arrested.MyUserNamesTaken wrote:Yep, give him enough rope and he will hang himself. He's replied:0 -

No need for me to do that. The original seller is on his case.
Besides, the one who needs to report him would be the one who makes the purchase from him. After all, he's the person buying a fake that is being sold as the genuine article. In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?

Great work everyone, as said before things like this are all too common on ebay unfortunately. Also their blatant inability to police their own site and eforce their own policies makes naive people, often the very young or first time users pay for this !!!!!!!s lavish lifestyle. Keep up the good work!!0
