The sad thing is that the creep is clever enough to stay just on the right side of the criminal law, and I'll bet by the time he's 25 he'll be living in a £1m house driving a Ferrari and looking forward to spending the rest of his life conning innocent people.

He's able to stay just on the right side of the law because of eBay's inability to police its own site. Their reponses to reports are patronising and ineffective and most importantly incredibly slow!!!!

For what its worth if I report a clear fraud like this I always say in my message to eBay that I am maintaining a copy of my report so that if a buyer is scammed I will provide my report to them to enable them to pursue eBay for facilitating a fraud even after being alerted to it...not sure it has any effect whatsoever.

If they weren't so animal stupid it should do. It's not a meaningless threat and could come back to bite them.

If there was a high profile incident and it came to light they were in the habit of ignoring warning emails it could do a lot of damage to their credibility.
  • ARGH!! This has made me so angry... I was ripped off once but the buyer didn't say anything in the small print. While I agree that someone paying into the hundreds of pounds must be a bit silly not to take care and read the small print/pay that much to someone with such terrible feedback, still, what a loser! I know I shouldn't have but I sent him an email through ebay telling him that he had been reported and (hopefully) trying to freak him out...."...i bet you're just some sad 17 year old chav with a girlfriend called sophi studying rubbish subjects like art and graphics at a college in Halesowen..."HA HA HA
  • HIS RESPONSE.... "I agree with you fully. I am sad. But everything im doing is legal and above board. When you go to buy a phone, what do you look at first? A dummy phone. And whats one of those? An item. I am just selling a normal item just like others. I tell people 2 or 3 times in the listing that its a display phone/dummy phone. But people cant be arsed to read it. So i maybe sad, but being sad pays off. And it also stops you being ripped off because it males myself away of what can happen. But thankyou for also being sad enough to come and critisize me on my selling technique. Have a nice day." WHAT A COCKY LITTLE IDIOT.....
  • couldn't help myself, so i'm bidding on the two picasso prints. might send him a dummy cheque through the post as payment lol:rotfl:

    Can I help?
  • Surely "deception" is against the law.

He may mention it in the small print but it is clear what his intention is.

True, but in cases like these it's very hard to get a conviction.

If he's got any sense he'd reimburse anyone who made a big fuss and just live off the proceeds of those who didn't.

Under those circumstances it's unlikely that he'd ever be prosecuted and if he was it's very unlikely that he'd be convicted because, technically, he has provided the information.

Look at the number of adverst from large companies that are carefully designed to deceive their audience.
  • i sent a message and asked if it came with any proof of authenticity and he has replied

Hello mick, yes it does come with a certificate of authenticity and originality. My other auctioned picasso piece (WILPF) that you are bidding on also has a coa provided. Both pieces are comissioned by the same company. Kind regards, daniel.

and just had a message from original seller saying they have reported him for copying listing but nothing done yet.

Well, if he's claiming to have a COA, he's now committing deception. Seeing as the original seller is a fine arts dealer, this could have a detrimental effect on his professional reputation, as he claims his is the original work. I wonder if the photos by the original seller are copyrighted? If so, that's a copyright infringement.

I wouldn't say this kid is on the right side of legal. In fact, there are quite a few grey issues here.
