  • Again, this would be illadvised as previously said. At least the BIB did not catch her for Not Displaying a valid VEL.

    What does that mean?
  • Right, so my POA for tomorrow is: Bike to the Post office in the morning, pay for a new licence, bike back home, pay this bloody release fee and then go back to the station and wait for them to unlock my car!

I'm guessing BIB - Boys in Blue - The Police

In that sense your lucky they weren't around with the ANPR (Automatic number plate recognition) cameras

BIB=boys in blue=police=whatever else you want to call them
VEL=vehicle excise license=car tax (as was)
Not displaying is £60.00 fine as well as the DVLA bit. You'll probably have to pay for the tax from June till now as well.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

Am glad I wasn't stopped by the BIB as well!

Would they have already reported me to the DVLA?

If they did not stop you then you should be ok,

Have they definitely clamped you on behalf of the DVLA? Does it state exactly that on the paperwork?
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Yup! Verified this this morning with the DVLA!
  • Well, after leaving home at 11 this morning, on my husbands bicycle... I cycled 5 miles to the station to get the train to west horndon where I was to produce my tax disc which I walked to get at the post office up the road before setting off... Paid the release fee of £100.00, got the train back to my station, hung around for an hour waiting for them to release my car, like they said they'd do within the hour... a no show! Eventually decided I'd had enough waiting and wasting time so cycled home!

it's now 17:00 and I'm finally home... I cycled 10 miles in 1 day (was quite funny after 3 hours, but nearing the 4th hour I wasn't finding it all that adventurous or funny... ) I think I've learned my lesson!!!!!!!!!!!:o

I'm tired and cranky and need a shower but I'm once again road legal! :D
