    Afternoon all,

We've been blackberry picking and had a nice walk. We managed to fill an ice cream tub of them, quite an achievement with Ds2 eating them as quick as i was picking them.

As well as that we've had lunch and i've loaded the dw and S & S the kitchen again.

I'm so cross with DSD2. She babysat last night, made a right mess of the kitchen, deleted all of series 4 of Dr Who off the planner and the Dr Who movie we hadn't even watched yet ( all these had keep on them and she had no reason to delete anything especially as she doesn't even live here so wouldn't have needed any room to record anything ) and stole a tub of milkshake powder.:mad: Ds2 just asked to watch the movie and i had to tell him his Sister deleted it. OH better have a word or i will be.:(

I'm just having a coffee and then i'm going to spend HH in the dining room before we go in the garden.

I'll have the family in tow but if anybody wants to meet somewhere at Chatsworth on the Wednesday then that would be lovely - pm me if you do:D

hubby insists on bedside tables! - they get in the way!

Just sold our really old ones on ebay for £45 :D I have a bookshelf my side (from Mum's house) and DH has the old changing table/cupboard which we had made when I was expecting DS1 on his side with the teasmaid on top.:D

I've just made a sausage dog draught excluder thing for the front door out of a remant of blind material and the inners of an old cushion.

Ds2's just come over all strange. He started crying and saying his nose was hurting but he couldn't remember bumping it on anything. Then he went really hot and sweaty and said he felt sick. I've given him some calpol and he's just fallen asleep on the sofa. I can understand him feeling sick if he's got a bug or something but don't know why his nose would be hurting unless he's bumped it and not realised.

I'm going to do a HHC in the dining room at 3.30 if anyone wants to join me? I don't want to go too far in case he wakes up and is sick.

Holly if he is too hot it could trigger a nose bleed in some kids (mine often have nose bleeds) so maybe that is why it hurs?

I don't make Blackberry Jam but I do make a jelly. It's easy, it's my favourite to make because it LOOKS so good - glossy/shiny/seedless and tastes and smells divine.

    Instructions

collect juicy blackberries. Soak (to remove beasties)/wash if you're not as fussy.
Get a cooking apple (bramley or similar) wash and quarter. Put in pan.
bring to boil and simmer until blackberries burst and apple soft.

Strain, overnight through muslin or jelly bag DON'T SQUEEZE
Measure liquid. To every pint add 1lb granulated sugar. Bring to boil, keep on a rolling boil for 10 mins (or use thermometer to check temp)

test for set. (blob of jam on cold saucer)

ooh I can't remember if I use lemon juice...hang on

    mechanic has phoned ...
    *winces*

erm My kitchen is white. Last year I had to wipe the units down with neat bleach after making the jelly. It's getting the stuff into the jelly bag that defeats me. Every time.

I have fond memories of my Mum making bramble jelly. She used to upend the dining room chair and hang the muslim bag on the legs. She made pints and pints of the stuff. We never ate it all before it was time to make it again the next year. Believe me we did try. It tastes divine.

I've lost my little ones. DS3 had his first ever sleepover last night. He had been playing with the boy across the green all day and they asked if he could stay the night. Couldn't really say no. He rushed home and promptly knelt on a wasp with the inevitable outcome. He didn't make a fuss and I put a little bit of anti-histamine cream and an ice cube on it and he was begging to go after 2 minutes. They were back in their pj's at 7.45am! DD2 promptly got dressed and went back with them. That was at 8.30 and I haven't seen them in the house since. They are playing happily on the green and I'm rather glad as I've done today's list.

I've also chased up my share of my DN's will.
Scoured the internet for a job for DS1.
Renewed DH's car tax at the post office.
Arranged for DH's windscreen to be replaced on Friday.
Been picked for a marketing research gig with a £50 payday:T.
WM x 6 (6 to go) - sometimes having a big family is a washing nightmare.

    Good luck Pigpen

Triker re the *possible* bed bugs.

evidence that that's what they ARE would be bites on people and (more telling) blood specs on sheets - as they excrete blood. If that's what they are you also need to spray nooks and crannies in all furniture and under skirting/carpets etc. Apparently they are on the increase due to people staying in hotels, S/H furniture etc. *shudders*

anyway in my HHC with Juliejim I did my ironing, washed up almost all pots (some soaking;)) and made a bread-and-butter pudding using a whoopsied fruit loaf that I bought in March and which has been in the freezer ever since. Feels good to be moneysaving when I've had the car bill to pay:rotfl:. Oh and I have cashback from Quidco because I used my credit card in Sports Direct when I bought DD's PE kit for Sept. Small victories!:T

And just to put an even bigger smile on the Valli fizzog (phizzog?) DS will get FULL EMA:T:D:T:D
