  • Let's break this up - i've been trying to resist (sorry guys)!

Yes I stand by both statements ,one was sexist, and had no relevance to the discussion,it made reference to the right of women to change their minds as opposed to men , please read post to see context--

I did - whilst it is a stereotype (that women change their mind every five minutes) it was made in good humour. Considering your working background (Royal Air Force) I'm surprised that you took offence as I'm sure that service humour was just as dark when you served as it is today!

and I cannot see a problem with referring to a clique a group of brokers against a member of the public ,a network all with similar goals, and a Mortgage Daddy,a mortgage broker with children .

Meanwhile this is the exact opposite. If you took offence to the joke about women changing their minds, how on earth did you expect Andrew Smith not to take offence against this?

I have written a lot of posts on this thread, and are they in your opinion the worst you could find .I rest my case, and I almost forgot YES I standby all my posts

Oh there were far worse that I found - but quite frankly I have neither the time or the inclination. Whilst some of your posts on MSE are useful and constructive, some of your posts on this thread alone have been sufficient, in my opinion, to ensure that other posters have you figured out.

When two members of a group are dominant because of their personalties do not prevent it allowing you to speak out against your peers.

Not an issue I've ever had a problem with .... in fact its put me in hot water a few times

So, with most favouring a simple clarification signature (not advice but discussion), is their any views on how we should perhaps respond to people who actually state in their posts that they want advice?

Should the advisers remind people in their first reponse on that thread that it isnt advice being given but discussion points?

If someone is asking for advice, are they treating the responses as advice?
I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.
  • Very good point actually.

I think that you are right in that it should be clearly stated where someone has asked for 'advice' that the replies on the forum should not be treated as such.

Should questions that forum members ask be allowed to include the words advice or what is best ? If you can't help or are restricted then you can't help. Rules is rules and if they are a problem then consult the rulemakers or the regulator of the rule makers.
