As per Andrew I agree this thread is now exhausted and there is nothing more worth saying on the subject - I was just wondering, do you think we should go back and delete any post which is "waffle" and off topic for Martins Benefit? or should we justleave it as it is?
    Leave it as it is

hey.. accidently hit the thanks instead of the quote button !!

thats a policy statement issued 2 yrs prior to start of the MGI rules.. I actually quoted the correct MCOB rule earlier in this ( very long) thread...( as mentioned above) .. even if its an ad ( which is not certain ) the MCOB rules don't require full disclosure on basic ads if they just say mortgage broker , name , and contact details ..

Saying independent/ fees free / whole of market might however not gain from such an exclusion

As the one who originally posted the link that Kenshaz used, I feel I have to point out that the relevant sections of MCOB 3.2 (MCOB 3.2.2 and MCOB 3.2.4) are the same as the current FSA handbook and that I originally posted it to make the same point that I have always made and the one you have also made.
I am an IFA (and boss o' t'swings idst)
You should note that this site doesn't check my status as an IFA, so you need to take my word for it. This signature is here as I follow MSE's Mortgage Adviser Code of Conduct. Any posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as financial advice.

Well, difficult when you are in the minority, but I know that really you can see through all the froth ,like everyone else can.I am isolated, but fortunately the people who make the decisions are impartial.
When two members of a group are dominant because of their personalties do not prevent it allowing you to speak out against your peers.

Why not just say, "Martin has asked me to point out I am a mortgage broker, though I post only general infomation here for which I accept no liability."

I don't know how you say you are a mortgage broker without mentioning the word mortgage!

Bit concerned that I my name may lead people to believe I have a silver coloured car.

If Martin insists on some kind of signature ( i still think theres no need) I think this is the best so far- short, polite and not full of regulatory waffle

Silvercar- I drive a silver car but dont own any flags let alone a white one :rotfl:

The only possible flaw in this statement is that it could be 'perceived' that Martin Lewis or MSE is 'endorsing' that particular broker. I still think the best one is like my last official one:

    I am a Mortgage Broker
My posts are not advice and are for generic discussion purposes only. For specific advice contact a suitably qualified professional

Crisp, short and to the point. Possibly even lose the last sentence.
