:T to your DS, Budgie. He's not a professional footballer is he?:D
And so delighted you're getting on so well with Mr BB. Do you think it's a case of just slacking off on the AFness as you did so well previously? Constant vigilance is a phrase that comes to mind from someone on here.

I'll be back on the wagon tomorrow, not sure about the challenge. Meantime 6AF please DB.

:hello:jo. hope you're having a good time out East.

    Back to lurkdom... :)

I thought you were telling ME to go back to lurkdom:o:D and quickly realised I hadn't noticed your name when I went back a few pages. Hi Jo, I absolutely remember you. We did a lunch challenge together too. I hope all's good in your world :D

The biggest thing you all give each other here is freedom. To say it, admit it, deny it, fake it, relive it, dissect it, succeed, fail................ you have a fabulous tool in this thread and it can't be praised highly enough.

Back in the days when I daren't articulate any of my worries about over use/abuse of booze for fear of overwhelming even myself, this place was fabulous to sneak onto, and eavesdrop all night long.

Yes it's the idea that i am missing out somehow, and yet on what?

Hangovers, memory problems, bad nights etc etc etc

    I just don't know.....

But I am sober and happy with it tonight:)

I still get that sometimes. I can walk past a pub on a Friday night and everyone seems to be having a great time.
I can go to weddings and parties and people seem to be having a better time than I am.

I can easily glamorise drinking. Bars, clubs, champagne, beautiful people, etc..
I have to be helped (by others) to remember that my drinking was not glamorous. I could start in nice bars, but would often end up drunk in the grotty places. I wet the bed sometimes, and would regularly have a rotten hangover. I spent money I couldn't afford.
There is nothing glamorous about that!!

As long as I keep remembering that I am not missing out by not drinking (as I cannot drink safely) then I get over the 'missing out' feeling, and feel grateful for the lack of hangover, memory loss, etc etc

On the whole, I rarely feel like I am missing out...
  • BB Hang on in there it is worth the effort.

    Hello,

I left you on page 10 so sorry that I don't know anything that has been going on.

Anyway, I am back from hols. It was great except that I had a HUUUUGE black dog with me. First 5 nights I had really anxious dreams. 6th night couldn't go to sleep when woke up (which was lots of times) night 7 and 8 more restful and dreams more positive and then last night very insightful dreams that shall have profund effect on my life. I had one small bottle of beer on couple of nights and it just confirmed me that I really don't like the stuff. And it wasn't enough to relax me anyway. Only thing it did do was to make me think that it would be a good idea to pick up my old night cap habit when I come home. I know where that would lead so no is the answer. No night caps here. Luckily I had some elderflower cordial and sparkling water at home so after two big glasses of that to stop being so thirsty (I did 42 locks yesterday, only 14 today) and it seemed to do the trick. I think one more glass is reguired and then cup of decaf tea with a nice biccie. Poor BF he hasn't seen me like this before, I am normally very affectionate but not now, just an irritable old so and so. Back to normal and hopefully that and some rest will sort me out. I don't have the energy to tackle my post today - tomorrow will be soon enough.

  • Marru - lovely to have you back but I'm sorry you had such a tough time while you were away. I do hope you'll be feeling much better soon. 42 locks - that sounds exhausting!

Anyone else up for a Monday to Thursday challenge?

So far just me and Budgie. We could do with some company :)

  • Marru sweetie hugs (()) you sound exhausted

    BB back to bed!!!

Maman, DC, and many many others I can't remember (Its my age) hello and I hope you are well, those reading/posting and lurking :)

Fletch - what a truly sad story, my heart is with you and your family - nice to see you pop in - xx

I'm up for a challenge this week - cheating slightly as I have tablets and its an absolute no no to drink - first few days were hard, but it is getting easier - I just need to keep it up.

Just scoffed a co-op fresh orange juice lolly - 4 for £2.34 hardly moneysaving - but half the price of a bottle of wine - so why not :)

Another AFD for me - I think that makes me on lucky 13 please :)
Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
Total debt as of 28/4/19 £7867.38:eek:
    minus 112.06 = £7755.32:money:

Oh the 42 lock day was the best one :D I loved being out there in the rain left alone with my thoughts in the quiet of being in the sticks. And whizzing between the locks with the bike. Hence probably great sleep last night.

If there are any challenges going can I please be added. I think I need to be here a bit more at the moment to remind me how far I have come in the last year and not to slip back.
