Fingers crossed x0 -
I also f****d up badly at the weekend and ended up drinking from Friday through to Sunday because the kids were away for the weekend and I thought why not let my hair down. So it didnt really happen by accident I knew exactly what I was doing but I was testing myself to see if I could get straight back to AF days asap. Well the positive is that I didnt drink alcohol yesterday and I have no intention of drinking again for a long time. It made me feel soooooo carp. Its now Tuesday and I still dont feel well. For the small time of euphoria you feel when you are on the p**s its almost not worth the hassle of feeling so sh*t afterwards. Anyway I have still managed 16 AF DAYS THIS MONTH SO FAR PLEASE SHAGGY -TRASI XXXXX0

:hello: Its been a while since I've been here to see you guys, but I've been popping in occasionally to see what ya up to...!!!! all I can say is its been an awful year (not due to alcohol) but fingers crossed has turned around now!!! I have had episodes of AF'ness during the year, mainly due to illness/hospital and many many antibiotics...
So now its time to get sensible with the drinking again, I'm aiming at cutting down and can report my first AF night yesterday...hoping my resolve lasts until friday, but I have learnt to like myself now so I'm not going to beat myself up if it don't complete my own mini challenge...
Hope that there's still a small space for me on the wagon....;)Christmas 2020 £109

I am in awe of you.
Just feel helpless, as to how I *stay* sober.

I know exactly how you feel. All recovering alcoholics have been there.
The last thing alcoholics want to do is stop drinking, as it seems an insurmountable task....
I don't know much about stopping drinking, as I only know what worked for me. I stopped looking for ways/methods to stop drinking when I found one that works.
1. I had to change what I was doing. Will Power alone was not going to work for me. I had to clean up the wreckage of my past and thus remove the desire to drink. If that desire to drink is there, I will always be very susceptible to a relapse. I had to put old ideas and prejudices to one side. I had to admit that alcohol had beaten me totally. I fought it and lost. Thus I needed to wave the white flag and surrender.
2. I have to do something everyday to make sure I stay sober. Doing something yesterday does not guarantee sobriety today. Alcoholism doesn't take holidays, thus there are no days off.
If I don't do something everyday, then I am not taking responsibility for my illness.
If someone with a terminal illness had to spend a few minutes a day doing something that would prevent them dying of their illness, they would be crazy not to do it. I feel the same with my alcoholism.
Good luck Sim0 -

That's exactly how I feel, as though I'm waving the white flag. Every single day the same, waking up feeling carp and full of resolutions as to how today will be the day it all changes. And it doesn't. So alcohol wins again and clarabell loses. But I'm just at a loss as to what happens now I've admitted it.0 -
Puzzcat I'm relatively new here and I don't think we have met but I am sure I speak for everyone if I say welcome back.
I hope you find strength in these pages.Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most.
