  • Thanks SSG.

You, Marru and the advisor lady are all right.

It's just pride f'in with me I suppose! Feel my self worth would be a bit higher up the scale if I was working again..

Wasn't Gross Point Blanke brilliant? It's been one of my favourite films for years. Cracking script, and I love John Cusack too. Love Minnie Driver even more! :)

    Sim xx

Yeah great film I enjoyed it too.....

Maybe your self worth would be a bit higher, but maybe it would just make you feel more pressured, I just think take a bit more time, baby steps and all that!:)

    You're doing great Sim

  • SSG -

You're spot on about the emotions all coming to the fore, and the crying. I had that too.

Hope you're feeling a bit better now.

It's dawned on me these past few weeks, that I've spent years doing *anything* (drinking / sleeping around / spending loads of money I didn't have) to avoid facing things / myself / my past! :-/

Very slowly getting my self - respect back now I think. Felt great to have a tidy up, to see my support worker, and to know that all my bills are paid up to date :)

    Big Burly Hugs to you!

    Sim xx

I am feeling a bit better now, albiet a bit concerned as I am likely to be very tired when the alarm goes off at 0615

You will be fine Sim, don't give up giving up!

    I won't that's for sure.

My life is pretty good and I aim to keep it that way......

    Big Hugs back

    Morning All :hello:

Well I managed to be AF last night, making 2 AFDs for September.

I got on the weighing scales this morning. It wasn't good news:cool:. I have put back on the whole of the 10 lbs that I lost at the beginning of the year..... how sad is that? Anyhoo, I must lose it all again before Christmas as I cannot go into December at my top weight, otherwise I will have to buy new clothes in the new year.

    So the diet starts today...

  • Well done everyone who is on target, Cazza congrats on your job! Shaggy IKWYM about the weight gain, I lost a stone before my hols in May and now since have regained 8 pounds of it and all my clothes are too tight :( good luck with your diet, are you doing a specific one or just cutting down?

2AFD for me now please shaggy, no idea if I am going to drink today or tomorrow at lunches, just going to take it as it comes, X factor tonight too which is usually an excuse for a few!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend

Funny thing surnames. I have a failed marriage behind me with 2 great sons from it. They have kept my surname which I am happy about as if they was to change my family name would dissapear from my little branch of the family tree. Little thing I know but important for me :o

SSG I decided, after you said not to drink in the house on your own anymore, that I would do the same and, so far, have managed to do so. As you say "Dont give up giving up" ;)

Hope you all have a lovely weekend and achieve everything you desire

  • I have a confession to make, I was talking to my hubby about being AF during a break to Cornwall next month with friends. I actually confessed to him that I dont actually want to be AF for this as having the occasional drink on hol is often really enjoyable as long as I dont go completely OTT. He said maybe I`m setting my challenges too high setting myself up for a major fall and suggested maybe I should challenge myself to be in control of my drinking instead of giving up completely. This all made perfect sense to me and I`ve decided to give this a go by setting myself certain rules such as not drinking every day but accepting I probably will drink at special occadions and holidays, switching to water or soft drinks after two drinks (this will be challenging). So after deciding this I thought right I`m gona have a cold beer. So I did, so I`ve already ballsd up my 30 day September AF personal challenge but far from feeling guilty I actually still feel in control, I feel no urge to have a drink today and am still in the frame of mind to remain AF in the long run but without the daunting feelings of 1. never being able to enjoy a drink again and 2. Falling off the wagon badly.... My aim is to step off the wagon occasionally with complete control and grace :) anyway its nice to know I`ve always got this forum to drop in to for support and its nice to be able to be truly truly honest here.Trasi
